An ad came up on FB, this seems a great idea for someone that has an iPod dock speaker thing and wants a WiFi speaker thing.

Any non Amazon recommendations?

I got one off eBay and it didn't work. Got a refund so broke it open and there was just a couple of wires and that was it!

I bought one forever ago from Tesco, some no-marque thing that plugs into the old ten thousand pin Apple connector. Cost like five quid and Just Works aside from an annoying blinkyblinky blue light easily fixed with a bit of tape, I wouldn't over-think it too much.

Don't buy the cheap eBay ones. They work, but the signal strength and sound quality is absolutely awful.

Cheers. I feel fairly stupid for not thinking about a physical shop.

I had one that worked well ages ago, wish I could find it, but if you are expecting a bluetooth dongle to turn a speaker into a WiFi speaker you are going to be disappointed.

How come? Not exactly expensive or obscure tech.

My Tesco's had none. Thoughts and prayers.

How come?

Because a Bluetooth dongle will give you a Bluetooth speaker that you connect to via Bluetooth.

A WiFi speaker (eg. Sonos, Apple Airplay, LG Soundflow) is a different thing altogether and connects via, eerrrr, WiFi.
