I get pretty frustrated when typing longish stuff on the iPad.  Tried one of the microsoft folding bluetooth keyboard doodahs and it felt pretty good.

Anyone out there using such a thing? anything else that works well?

Don't really want on that doubles as a case/cover as the need for typing isn't too frequent, just frustrating when I have to.

My wife has been using the aluminium Brydge one for about 2yrs on an iPad mini. Faultless and very good quality. It feels like it’s made out of aluminium (if not, it’s some sort of metal, not plastic). It’s light and very high quality. In fact, it feels like an Apple OEM product in feel, quality and design. You’d have to check prices to see if it represents good VFM for you but I’d have no hesitation in recommending. I don’t know if they do an iPhone product though

Answering the wrong question, I bought a Belkin one that is a case. It's good quality and good to type on (and of course holds the iPad at a decent angle when your typing.  I'm sure they do non-case versions as well and their stuff is (nearly) always good quality.

You could just buy an Apple Wireless keyboard if you're not going to carry it around with you - pick up a used one on eBay.

I bought one of these for our living room PC, works perfectly from the other side of the room:

The Brydge one are very nice, but they turn the ipad into a laptop really, as do many of the others that are the same format.

Most of the time I am using it as just a tablet.  The folding aspect of the Microsoft jobbie is very appealing due to its diminutive size when closed up.  I've not found anything else similar online yet that gets as many positive reviews.

Mines an eSynic one (About 30 quid) and is excellent. Great battery life and feels like a proper keyboard but folds up to a small package.
