What's good on amazon sub £20 for general listening in the workshop, on walks, or driving?
Nothing >£20 cheers
And amazon a bonus
At that price point, go with what you like the look of. They will all be similar inside.
Avoid like the plague, anything which looks like AirPods or Sonys.
I would stump up a tenner or so and go with the cheapest anker/soundcore they do.
None of them will sound great, but the ankers sound good enough and have lasted my teenagers using them endlessly.
Skullcandy dimes aren’t bad. Probably the best of cheapo ones I’ve used and they’re £18 on Amazon at the moment.
Hate to be that guy, but driving? Really?

Why not ?
I liked these enough to buy a second pair now the first ones are starting to wear out (I use them for running, nothing lasts for more than a year). Skullcandy jib active if I've managed to mess up the link.

Don't buy jlab ones. Bought some reduced at sainsbury's, a tenner down from 30. One keeps disconnecting randomly, you can't have any other bt things on at the same time. Should've researched a bit before buying.
A little bit more expensive but I got these last year and they're still working fine. Sound quality is reasonable but not a patch on proper over ear headphones. Battery life is great, they're easy to charge and connect reliably.

Sirens, other road users, random unwanted noises from own car.
Probably many others but those are the main ones to start with.
Deal: Amazon Brand – Umi earbuds W5s True Wireless Earbud Bluetooth 5.2 In-Ear Headphones IPX7 for iPhone, Samsung, Huawei with Patented Intelligent Metal Charging Case(Grey) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07N428SG9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dl_PV3QZ67B7434FQZR2ZJM
£2 over budget. I had a pair for a week but kept getting random cut outs on my usual dog walk so returned them and bought some Jabra 75T that were recommended on another thread. The Jabra sound much better but still cut out in the same place as the Umi albeit less often. And cost over 2 times as much…
Mixx Audio - the model I’ve linked below. Get them from Robert Dyas or Asda. The ones I’ve linked are great - really bassy. I had some similar looking skull candy headphones which were crap in comparison yet double the price.
Don’t be tempted to buy the Mixx audio true wireless ones for sport - they’re really tinny sounding - worse than the skull candy ones.
I wouldn't bother with the F9 type buds, I have a set that seems to enjoy randomly unpairing with each other unless you take them both out the case at exactly the same time. Also suffers from dropout in the same places, wondering whats causing that as nothing should be messing with signals like that.

And how does that compare to listening to your existing ICE system? Or in my case the constant banging and rattling of potholes and worn road surfaces.
I’ve got these, £17 at the moment.

I don’t use them that often but they work reliably, sound OK and fit in my ears well. I get a bit annoyed that the touch controls activate when trying to adjust them in my ears but I guess they’re all like that.

You'd be surprised at the difference between a noisy car with external influences and having something equating earplugs in your ear. Similar arguments against road riding with ears in.
@chakaping is only be using one as my van is so noisy using the hands free speaker (jabra) is well hard.
Not listening to music etc whilst driving, driving is my quiet time
Hate to be that guy, but driving? Really?
Has anyone tried bone conducting earphones?
I was curious so picked up a relatively cheap pair to try. The idea is that you can still hear everything as they don't cover your ears.
Not sure if the pair I bought are just cheap but they are very quiet. If I put them over my ears they are loud but kind of defeats the object.
JLAB ones from Argos with the wire that goes behind your neck, really good I used them for the gym when I was going 👍 even impressive bass for the cost. Around £30

I wouldn't actually since I drive the same shitbox with headphones or the stereo on. The only thing turning the music off does is introduce the annoyance of squeaking trim and the aforementioned banging of poorly maintained roads. If there was an Important Noise to be heard I'll hear it soon enough (if I haven't already felt whatever is causing it).

Really? Dunno where you drive but I very rarely get close passed by something weighing upwards of 25x more and travelling 4x the speed of me when driving. If it's such a problem I suggest you may be better driving on roads rather than open runways.
Just in from Tesco, they have the JVC wireless Gumy Mini at £20 on the shelves.
I bought the JLabs but 'wired' bluetooth (cable between each bud). These seem OK, not terribly loud but OK for the £12 - battery life fine, bluetooth fine.

Do you travel every where in silence ? I assume so.....
Might blow folks mind to know large numbers of motorcyclists use ear plugs on the open road too...
I've used cheap 20 quid bone conductors as a proof of concept. They work brilliantly for road riding and running on rural roads while being able to hear all going on. Batteries didn't take charge after 5-6 months but the replacement aftershox have been grand for 2 years.
Don't work great on a plane so unless your driving a silent box with no wind noise -youll probably want ear buds....and if you are driving a silent box you won't be hearing external noises anyway......

A previous car I used to drive with ear defenders on long trips. But fortunately I drive with my eyes most of the time.
@phil5556 bought the ones that you suggested. Wore on a 3 hour ride last night on some fast techy stuff, didn't budge and sounded plenty good enough - so thank you 😊
+1 On the Skullcandy Dimes.
I've got these and they're spot on for the money, lacking in bass but sound alright and good battery life.
Has anyone tried bone conducting earphones?
Aftershox Air user here, not on the roads though. Sound is pretty good without being great but there's always gonna be a sacrifice. I like them. Good for running too.
