I have a HP wireless printer.
It has been mostly reliable when it was connected to the previous machine running Win 10.
I rarely use it so it's switched off between print jobs.
I have a new PC and it's Win 11, initial set up was quick and easy. However, everytime I switch the printer back on, I have to remove and then re-install to get the thing to connect. Sometimes it takes multiple attempts to re-install.
Any suggestions of what might be the problem?
**No suggestions,i just want to commiserate with you.
Borrowed my lads wireless HP a week or 2 back as i had to print off some "stuff".
After a while installing all the HP bloat (on both mobile and PC!) the absolute **** of a machine still wouldn't work anywhere near reliably.
I was genuinely going to go full Office Space on it in the back garden and buy my lad a new printer, i was getting so angry with it.
In the end i managed to dredge up some good old fashioned vanilla drivers, uninstalled all the proprietary HP crap and just installed them and it worked. Sort of.
It then promptly ran out of ink on the new XL cartridge id just got for it... In part due to all the ink out repeatedly tried to waste printing out "pairing instructions" or scan alignment sheets if i didn't get to it in time.
**Anyway, you could just try installing the drivers without all the other junk i suppose? Please note, this was on Win 10 Pro though.
Browse for, and then connect to it via its IP address…
Give it a static IP address. Ideally, set a reservation on your router rather than doing it manually.
Or stop turning it off. 😁

This really, especially if you're on the instant ink service. And if not, you should be.

Yeah, a new cartridge every 5 sheets is worth it whatever way you cut it.
The instant ink cartridges are massive and I think the cheapest monthly plan is £2.99 now. A really cheap set of cartridges is 30 quid, (1st hit on Google) so if you're only getting 5 pages out of one cartridge, instant ink is a bloody steal. (And the cartridges from a shop are bloody robbery) 😁
I hate printers with a passion, we have sent space ships to Mars, but we still can't figure out how to make a home printer works seemlessly with a home computer.
HP I'm looking at you!
It's actually behaving itself at the moment. I'm using 3rd party cartriges from the 'the cartridge people' or something similar sounding, a popular online/delivery supplier. They seem to last well*
*but my Hp Printer throws a fit if I'm low on cyan, even if I'm just trying to print a black and white document, which is the only type of thing I tend to print, and I print very rarely, because, Email.
*also it politley informs me that "counterfeit" cartridges are detected! and won't display how much ink remains, and then it prints it anyway.
Whatever.
POS, LOL!
Can't help you OP but if anyone doesn't need colour our wireless budget Brother Laser printer is a revelation.
About 500 sheets in and the starter toner is still going strong, connects with win 11 and android consistently well and it does double sided.
Stuff inkjet printing, clogged heads, slow, smudge prone and insanely expensive in comparison - although we do have to pay for photo printing.
Agree on the Brother mono laser printer - just works every time from laptop, iPad and phone.
I too suffered from an Epson inkjet used intermittently - I’d barely get a couple of months from a cartridge.
Yeah I upgraded to a second hand Samsung laser printer for 90 quid. I bet in 3 years time I still won't have replaced the toner. In fact I bet I won't replace it in the next 6.
My old HP printer doesn't like the mixed 2.4/5GHz WiFi so I've had to set up a separate 2.4GHz only network just for the printer.
