Love my Sony Z1 Compact, but I got a nasty billing surprise today!!
I checked my 3 bill and I have £27 in other usage.
I queried this with 3 and they went back and found on day one of my contract I had sent 70 MMS messages, to which I went WTF???
I said to the bloke that he'd seen my usage and I don't send MMS messages, the only messages I sent at that time was my new number in a group text to some of my contacts (it said it failed so I resent it).
Turns out that if I select more than 7 contacts from my phone it auto converts it to an MMS message(never had this before with the iPhone).
So I may have to suck it up!! Got my fingers crossed they don't sting me for it though.

I wasn't aware of this fact, so it's worth noting for future.

I'm sure if you read the small print of your contract it will be be there somewhere.
I doubt they'll let you off.

It's bloody annoying as I've never had this issue in the past. I was even using the same phone on GiffGaff and didn't get stung like that for bulk messages?? I'm glad I'm going back to GiffGaff (got lured to 3 with the promise of 4G etc. I can't even get sodding 3G lol) at the end of the month.

lose the message app for Go SMS Pro or similar which can handle group messages properly.

for a simple fix, just remove the config data for your mms server.

It's a 3 thing. As giffgaff never handled group messages like that.
