You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Anyone found a way of doing this? and more specifically on an amazon fire tv. I don’t fancy paying £17 a month for YouTube premium as I won’t use any of the other stuff.
Cheers
Andy
It's free because you get ads. If you block the ads the content provider doesn't get paid.

If you watch adverts your brain cells commit suicide. FACT.
Are you running a router at home that has DNS servers that can be specified? There's an outfit that will block all the adverts at their end if you use their DNS service. Have a google but be warned it can affect Spotify and Plex as well.

This.
Either accept the ads as part of the privilege of free media content, or pay the subscription fee. Just don't expect people to invest time, money, effort into equipment and perfection of craft for zero return or soon enough, your favourite content providers will slow down or stop as it's no longer worth their while.
Or, they will stop filling videos full of ads shotgun style and instead either place the ads more sensibly or get sponsors so they don't need to show ads at all. Plenty of youtubers manage without ads, never seen one on a demoranch, slingshot channel or Colin Furze video yet and they are still monetised.
Other models exist, whoda thunk it?
This free we are on about. I remember there's a fairly large bill monthly to allow me to access all this 'free' stuff. IF one doesn't value ones artistic output don't expect others to do so.
That's a red herring, that's like saying you pay your electricity bill so why should you pay for Sky.

The individual channel doesn't have much control over ad placement, that's very much YouTube's bag.
As for having channel sponsors so they don't need to monetise using YouTube's ad server, you need a huge audience and massive engagement to either a: get sponsors onboard yourself (and that's assuming you have the skillset and knowledge to produce the right kind of pitch for a brand's social agency) or b: get on a network agency. And then of course you're reliant on identifying, targeting, pitching and converting these clients, before reporting back analytics and campaign effectiveness afterwards, which is the skillset of an advertising expert, not a content producer.
So for 99.9% of YouTubers, the in feed ads are the way forward and provide them some income.
So far Patreon hasn't made many people much money, so that's not much of an alternative at this stage, but who knows in the future. The market isn't ready for gated content just yet.
Is this not a similar conversation to here? Just the names have changed...so same issues/problems/needs...
I don’t like the in feed adz, if there is an ad to be shown stick it on the front of the feed or at the end, not during.
HTHs.
When the ads come on, just close your eyes and stick some earplugs in.
I use firefox on the pc and the addon called 'Enhancer for YouTube'. Couple of clicks to install and never see an add again.
I've got youtube premium, it's great, not seen and ad for yonks! 🙂
Bonus was I was already paying for google play music, cancelled that for 9.99, started paying 11.99 for youtube premium, then got google play music back for heehaw!
Happy days!
I'm sure it was saying £16.99 pm yesterday, £11.99 is a but more reasonable so i'll give that a go.

Agreed.
It's deffo £11.99 - good value. And you get the You Tube music app too.
16.99 will be the family version, worth it if a few of you are using it.
That’s a red herring,
Only if you're on all you can eat from your ISP.
In this day and age who isn't? Serious question.
And no, what does that have to do with Youtube? Like I said, you don't expect Sky for free because you pay your utility provider for electricity so you should you expect the same from Youtube because you pay your ISP for bandwidth?
