Hi,

Next week I'm going to take my 5 and 7 year olds to Blackpool on my own i.e no partner.

What's the best value for money ticlets to buy?

My concern is that if one of my kids didn't want to go on a ride, then none of us can since I can't (legally 😀) leave them one on their own at the bottom while I go on with the other.

I have no problems paying for stuff we'll use but i hate paying for stuff we haven't used. I'm a tight wad like that...

I've never been so have no idea what's it's like. I hear Nicholodean land is probably suitable.

Cheers for any advice.

If you want to do everything the resort pass is good value, but no idea if worth due to height restrictions and attention span for things like sea life. You probably won’t be able to do most of the stuff at the Sandcastle due to height issues.

I think if you pay for the full wristband you will definitely be paying for a lot of stuff you can't go on. See if you can get a pass that lets you in and use Nickelodeon land and gives you access to walk round the rest of the park. I think, but don't quote me on this, you might be able to buy tickets for individual rides in the rest of the park, if you think your kids will be ok on them.

At the sandcastle, you can buy tickets that allow access to the basics then if you want the bigger stuff you buy the"extreme zone" pass or whatever it's called.

Tesco Clubcard vouchers if you have them.

Nickelodeon Land will be perfect for them and, IIRC, you can get a pass just for that.

My advice is not to bother, Blackpool is a shit hole of the highest proportions. Have you considered Gullivers Kingdom in Matlock? It's designed for kids and adults and kids can go on virtually every ride together. There's also one in Warrington.

Haha, whilst I agree it's a shit hole, it is still brilliant for families and kids. There's loads to do, kids love it, you've just got to be able to afford extortionate entry fees and ignore the spice zombies. You can come from out of town, go to the pleasure beach and leave without actually seeing anything of Blackpool other than the tower in the distance.

The Wallace and Grommit ride is good fun, I was amazed at all the little details.

Some of the rides in Nickleodeon land are over in about 10 seconds which can be frustrating if you have queued up for a while.

Just stay on the front; don't go into the back streets or you'll be wanting to score some spice and hang around a lamp post out of sheer despair.

Take them on the boats on the lake in Stanley Park for some old fashioned holidaying. Blackpool is a dump, I should know I was born there but I love the wooden roller coasters with there impending sense of collapse and death and I've always loved Stanley Park.

Haha, opened the thread to see how many people's advice was 'don't go to Blackpool'.  Iz not disappoint.  I also concur...... 😁

The gentrification of Blackpool has begun.  We've got a couple of hipster coffee shops now,  one even serves smashed avocados for breakfast.  There's a barber shop that serves beer and we've even got a couple of craft ale pubs (not just 'spoons!) You can sit outside in St. Johns square and eat a wood fired pizza or a gourmet burger whilst you watch the spice addicts fight or get zombified. What more could you ask for! ?

Try and win money on the 2p falls!

And beware some of the tat shops coz the hats and glasses soon turns to dildos  and handcuffs in some shops!

EasyJet Tickets to Croatia, Corsica...anywhere really.

Highlights of my German girlfriends review.... "One big massive nightmare"  "seems like the whole uk working class have come to waste their money in amusement establishment of hell"  "I could not stand a day here again"  "There is nothing that would attract me back"    "I'm checking in to Premier inn for a sleep"

I went to Gourmet burger place - Staff seemed gently stoned, caramac milkshake had some of the wrapper IN the milkshake.  No apology or refund given.

I don't get it but people love it. I was prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt, but what a dump.

The gentrification of Blackpool will ruin the resort.

Blackpool is truly unique and should be left the way it is, for the locals. Property prices will rise and force the locals out, whilst trendy coffee houses and expensive bars and restaurants will decimate the local businesses. Look at what happened in places like Padstow, Rock and Sandbanks!
