so far bought phillips hue strip and extensions. £55 + 16 from amazon
looking for discounts on internal doors and amtico/karndean flooring (fat chance i know)
I'm looking for a new knee but not found one in the 100s of bloody Black Friday emails I've had
How does Black Friday now seem to last all of November?!
Oh and if anyone sees a decent offer on a small Chromebook (like really dinky, very lightweight), please let me know!
A set of Santoku knives to replace my Global ones which keep breaking.
Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers.
A wife in Primark.Non available so far.
Seen and taken advantage of the offers on Exposure lights.
Looking for a deal on a Rega Planar 3
I miss the old skool Black Friday. Internetz = dull.

Merlin have not only cheap Maxxis, but also extra reduced prices.
I'm after a Google Pixel 6a (I think...)
I may also splash out on a new TV seeing as the (sole) existing TV is about 12 yrs old and "only" 37" & 720p resolution. Keep in eye out for a new thread as I know sod all about TVs these days 😃
Bought a new phone last weekend on a pre-Black Friday deal, a Pixel 6 with case and screen protector kit for £350. Thought it was a Renewed/Recon one at first but a closer look at the listing showed it to be a new one, turned up in a sealed box so very happy. The deal has now gone and is back up to the £450 mar like a lot of other places. Also picked up a few Mini bits from the MiniSport sale that should arrive this week, some of which will sit on a shelf for a decade!
I’m after a Google Pixel 6a (I think…)
It's £299 from tomorrow on google store apparently.
How does Black Friday now seem to last all of November?!
Because there's an impending recession and retailers have to shift goods asap to reluctant consumers to pay their energy bills.
Trying hard to think of a reason not to get one of these…
https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Orbea/Occam-M30-LT-Mountain-Bike-2022/VE6O
^^ True but I think it's lasted for weeks for a few years now.
Sigma Sports have some Black Friday sale stuff… they are fast becoming my go to over CRC and Merlin.
I've ordered some carbon Vel wheels for my road bike from Sigma. 45% off and they are pretty much my local shop to boot
A set of Santoku knives to replace my Global ones which keep breaking.
How in the holy hell do you keep breaking knives?
Are you using them as hammers/spanners/tyre levers/anvils or what?
New TV. Prefer 65"(or 55" if i can get a better spec) TV will be wall mounted, dead center of my recliner
Choices -
1.Not ideal, totally gigantic, but you only live once so maybe what the hell. https://www.currys.co.uk/products/sony-bravia-kd75x85ju-75-smart-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-led-tv-with-google-tv-and-assistant-10224274.html
2 .A strong contender. The QN90B certainly has high spec and excellent brightlness. https://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-qe65qn90b-2022-neo-qled-hdr-2000-4k-ultra-hd-smart-tv-65-inch-with-tvplus-freesat-hd-dolby-atmos-sand-black/p6146281?s_ppc=2dx92700074106969792_mixed_technology_BAU&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqtSSpoqq-wIVzsztCh06LgTqEAQYAiABEgK_JfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
3. I like this one. Maybe not as good a spec as the others, but the single plug in where its all managed from an external box certainly makes things very simple. https://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-the-frame-2022-qled-art-mode-tv-with-slim-fit-wall-mount-65-inch/p6147096?s_ppc=2dx92700074106969837_mixed_technology_BAU&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIr_jIu5Wq-wIVytDtCh1rFgTbEAQYAyABEgIZvvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
^id be buying a Samsung S95b at that kind of money personally, i wish id waited a bit longer before buying the awful LG thing i ended up with 12 months ago.
I annoyingly missed out on a £125 exposure race just before bf, now i cant bring myself to pay the ‘cheap’ £175 the black friday deals currently want 😂
Bought some winter mtb boots though.. toasty feet for me!
Had ordered one of the frame Samsung but had to send it back as slim mount meant it didn’t fit over the power and data input I had put high up the wall to hide any wires!
Shame as it did look lovely.
I don't really need anything at the moment but for some reason I keep opening the PSA threads and then I do need something.
anyone seen any DWR / water repellent bib shorts (or bib 3/4s) for a non stupid price?
How does Black Friday now seem to last all of November?!
Innit.
I've already spunked my wad on heavily discounted bike stuff from CRC, Superstar, Sport Pursuit and others. All 50% off or more.
I think they're all trying to get in early in anticipation of people having less to spend, what with the cost of living crisis and all.
Merlin have not only cheap Maxxis, but also extra reduced prices.
Thanks Weeksy, that just cost me £85!!!!!
How does Black Friday now seem to last all of November?!
How can we have black Friday, when it's not even a bank holiday?
The original reason for the sales is it's the day after thanksgiving which is usually a holiday as well, so people did their Christmas shopping.
Seeing as we don't have the day off to go shopping, it's just a load of shops trying to extract as much money from your wallet as soon as possible before you have chance to spend it on Christmas shopping somewhere else.

I'm quite tempted by an Öhlins Privateer 141 and was about to pull the trigger but there are more options on sale now ... choices choices 😀 https://www.privateerbikes.com/collections/privateer-bikes-black-friday

Who knew.
I’ll be topping up my PS+ account on Friday.

Oh it's definitely an American import but I think it also tied in with the rough time in the year that shops reached break-even point and could therefore afford to discount stuff as well as create space for next year's [s]tat[/s] essential consumer products.
I still remember - when BF first became A Thing - of fights in supermarkets as everyone rushed in to grab TVs. The Asda near where I worked at the time had to close its doors for a few hours while the police sorted it all out!
Traditionally BF was supposed to be an in-store thing with Cyber Monday an online one but now it's just a mad consumer frenzy for most of November...
Seeing as we don’t have the day off to go shopping
I'd assume the vast majority of "Black Friday" shopping is done with a mouse, possibly during work hours.
Black Friday is just a (quite effective) marketing label, even if we know that its coming and that retailers have stocked up especially for it.
I’m quite tempted by an Öhlins Privateer 141 and was about to pull the trigger but there are more options on sale now … choices choices
That 161 XT looks like the pick of the crop to me.
Personally I'd have the extra travel if I were getting a bike that chonky.
If privateer had a frame only on sale I would probably jump on it.
Trying to think about how much I can sell the parts on it but it does invite a lot of hassle
anyone seen any DWR / water repellent bib shorts (or bib 3/4s) for a non stupid price?
Sportful Fiandra NoRain Pro bib shorts? No personal experience of them but Sportful stuff is generally top notch..(watch out for the sizing though)
Any cheap MY23 29er Zeb Ultimates out there? They were £700 on CRC a couple of months back but I dithered and they are now £900.
I'm looking fora Shockwiz... Biketart are currently the cheapest but a bit less would be even nicer.
Would quite like a new TV, but think we'll just wait.
amtico/karndean flooring
We have that in the new house. Hate it, absolute bugger to clean, stains really easily.
I bought a Commencal Meta Hardtail from CRC. Started building, but needs a headset, so have ordered one from Superstar with a BF code 🙂
Just now tried to order one of the bargain Pixel phones, but kept getting errors and timeouts on the Google store so gave up. I'm sure my Pixel 3a will last another year anyway.
I think the Pixel 6a is the same price at many outlets.
Keeping my eyes open for an air fryer.
A set of Santoku knives to replace my Global ones which keep breaking
As in, knives from santokuknives.co.uk? Bought a set earlier this year, our first proper decent knife set - they are amazing (to us, who know no different!) but be aware they took aaaaaaages to arrive and their customer service didn't reply to a single query. So don't plan dinner parties to showcase them until they turn up. 🙂
They are lovely knives, though. 🙂
I’m looking fora Shockwiz
Surely it's a one-off kinda thing? You can get a 7 day hire on ebay for around £30 delivered.
My own Black Friday purchases - got a nice thermal jersey and a quilted hoodie from Royal Racing for half price. Should be useful in the coming months.
chakaping
I think the Pixel 6a is the same price at many outlets.
Cheers, will have a look. £89 trade in on the 3a seems pretty good on Google too
If privateer had a frame only on sale I would probably jump on it.
Trying to think about how much I can sell the parts on it but it does invite a lot of hassle
I almost always swap my existing parts onto a frame, but Privateer bikes do spec their bikes very smartly.
I'd take the benefit of new suspension (with new warranties) and brand new transmission/brakes, and flog my existing bits.
And it'd be great not to have to build the bloody bike for once.
'Climate change is terrible, why won't somebody DO something??'
'Oooh, shiny gee-gaws! Take my money!'
Surely it’s a one-off kinda thing? You can get a 7 day hire on ebay for around £30 delivered.
If said person were to keep one bike for ages, then maybe 😀
However, if said person were more into multiple bikes multiple times per year, then maybe buying would be a better plan 😀
Hoping HMRC will have a black Friday deal.
Bikester sale is up to 70% discount now - e.g. CushCore Pro Plus Insert Set 27.5"
‘Climate change is terrible, why won’t somebody DO something??’
‘Oooh, shiny gee-gaws! Take my money!’
**** off Swampy.
A gee-gaw? I have no intention of buying a horse.
Google Store Black Friday prices don't work for another 13-ish hours, so suspect the prices won't work yet. I'm kind of hoping the Google Hub drops in price a bit more...would like one in the shed for when I'm turbo'ing, but I'm not needing to spend the £90 on it. I'm tight though...suspect plenty folk will find that a bargain price, but as it is more an 'extra' thing, the price is still too high for me.
I did manage to get a new bike helmet at a very good price, so no complaints really.

Free MemberHow in the holy hell do you keep breaking knives?

@esselgruntfuttock - It's a known issue with a particular design of Global Knife
See my last post and link on this thread -
I CADed and then used FEA to analyse the stress on the blade and it really is a bad design. The handle is at its thinnest and narrowest section at the point where maximum leverage and bending can be applied. If it's loaded in the cutting direction and there's a significant sidewise force, say the item being cut moves, it can cause the blade to fracture. The material properties need to be particularly brittle for it to do this, but the model doesn't lie. I presented all this to Global and they have agreed to warranty them (despite not having a receipt and them being 11 years old) and thus send replacements...but, I'll only be using them for softer applications, not root veg, which has killed the Chefs Knife and an apple which =killed the pairing knife.
If said person were to keep one bike for ages, then maybe 😀
However, if said person were more into multiple bikes multiple times per year, then maybe buying would be a better plan 😀
I thought you (like me) had come to the conclusion they were broadly rubbish and just repeatedly told you to undo the last change it told you to make?

🤔 90% on Friday at this rate!

This guy knifes.

Same here. We were planning on replacing our failing CRT (finally) this winter... but will have to wait another year now I think.

I know someone who's been through this (but without your skills to explain their case) and also received a replacement. My two Globals are still going though... bought for me as presents by my parents in the 1990s... and that includes tackling many swedes over the decades. As with everything... some failures can make people worry that all will fail... reminds me of mountain bike frames in that respect.
I thought you (like me) had come to the conclusion they were broadly rubbish and just repeatedly told you to undo the last change it told you to make?
Not at all, i just felt i could get it close enough on my own now. But as time and racing progreses i'd like better than 'close enough' for the boy. He's got his coil stuff setup nicely, but the air would be nice to get right too and the data-logging is a little expensive at times... Sure it means he gets it spot on... but with all the swapping and changing, it can get a bit repetitive, so wouldn't mind trying the Shockwiz again to get things pretty close.
When I was a lowly pot-boy at a few nice restaurants in the mid/late 90s Global was *the* brand all the cool chefs had in their knife rolls. And they definitely used the **** out of them without them snapping.
I wonder if Global changed the design or materials subsequently?
amtico/karndean flooring
We have that in the new house. Hate it, absolute bugger to clean, stains really easily.
^^yup this^^
Also, drop anything on it like a pan and the floor's likely to come off worst. Some of the dings in our old floor were hilarious. It'll even ripple up around an impact site as if it were a fluid. Glad I didn't directly pay for it ("thrown in" with new build the deal).
so wouldn’t mind trying the Shockwiz again to get things pretty close.
I'll have a word this end - think one of my riding buddies may have one which goes unused if he didn't already get rid because it simply says "add x tokens" "reduce y psi" "remove x tokens" "add y psi" and repeat.
After a couple of warranties the conclusion was that it's a limitation of the device not a fault.
Oh, some carbon road wheels would be nice too.
I keep looking on Chain Reaction at their Prime wheels (which I've had before, they were very good) and there are some more discounts coming but it seems a bit piecemeal. They do have a great deal on a tubeless bundle - £500 for 2 tyres, valves, sealant and the wheels instead of about £800 for just the wheels. They're deeper than I'd like though... I'm fussy like that.
Sigma Sports had some good deals on their Vel wheels - one set went down to about £700 before rapidly going back to £899 so I suspect a pricing error somewhere in there!
I'm keeping an eye our for some Mesh wifi kit.
No idea what I need but the powerline kit I've been using has just died so it's time for a replacement.
and that includes tackling many swedes over the decades
Reported to SäPo and Polisen. Don't go near Ikea for the next few months you bastard!
Didn't signmasport have carbon road wheels on sale. Own brand vel but likely as good as others.
Pixle 6 (not 6a) would be nice, or a 7 if verrrry good deal (unlikely!). my P20 Pro is getting tired...

Thank you!! Never been able to justify £99 for a fan, but with that price plus an extra 10% off for signing up to the newsletter I can definitely handle £72!

Road, gravel or MTB?
MTB although there was a thread a week or so ago (which I was a part of, with my theoretical research so far) about using a XPLR gravel set up
Pixle 6 (not 6a) would be nice, or a 7 if verrrry good deal (unlikely!). my P20 Pro is getting tired…
299 at John Lewis, with an offer that gets you an 'additional' £100 cashback when trading in an old handset (if they would have given you £20 for your old one, you now get £120), effectively making the phone 299-100-trade in! In the example that would make it £180!
Edit: currently offering £24 for an unlocked and working P20

Looking for sony xm-1000 headphones ideally xm5 but happy with 4.
Want a new Samsung tablet probably an s8 (have seen some big discounts on the Samsung site already).
Nintendo switch oled and an Xbox series x.
Going for electronics at the moment
Screwfix Turbo gold bulk box. Was £50, now £20 so 60% off.
Dewalt impact gun. Bare. Half price at £50
Site basic black work troos also half price at £9
76projects sent out a 30% off code for those already on their mail list... Was working on already discounted items earlier so I managed to pick up a pair of Exposure Trace / TraceR Lights for just over £50
I’ve got some bits I’m about to list in the classifieds that may interest you. I’ll send you a PM.
If it’s loaded in the cutting direction and there’s a significant sidewise force, say the item being cut moves
what kind of moving objects are you stabbing?!?!!?
Id like to get a bigger TV , just because
but honestly my ancient (10Year old!) 45 inch Sony is still going strong, with a Fire Stick it does all we need
Those 50mm Vel wheels at Sigma Sports are a steal at £399. Got a pair earlier this year and they’ve been great, if you can live with a noisy freehub.
