Has anyone got a pair of these? are they any good?

I have a set of the Floats- the low-top version- and a pair of the old Shazams. They're good- better put together than any of my Five Tens, but less grippy. Slightly tempted to get a pair of the Electrocuted Lemon Shazams.

I've jsut had a live chat with Wiggle about another item, I asked if there were any codes going to persuade me to buy today and got told "no, but you may want to wait until tomorrow". No idea what, or how good but I'm hopeful of something.

Nothing particularly tempting so far there.

Agreed.

If you like bright socks, Happy Socks are doing 40% off all stock, it's a real 40% too for most things as opposed to 40% off a price they haven't been for 2 years like some places.

5800 105 double chainset for £66 on CRC seems very reasonable.

Cracking upgrade for a lot of budget road bikes.

£50 off Nikon D3300 and an extra £20 cashback seems a good deal, I bought my mother one earlier this year and it is excellent.

So it's not just me then that find this sort of black friday bull*hit abhorrent? Greed and consumerism at it's absolute worst.

Feel so sorry for people wrapped up in this sort of thing, just like I feel sorry for the muppets queued outside our local branch of Next at 3am come Boxing Day morning rather than spending Boxing Day with their families or out in the great outdoors. Or even worse - shopping online Xmas Day - yes sales start Xmas day now 😯

Thing about black friday is (having worked in retail), the majority of stuff on offer is either A - old soon to be outdated stock, B - cheaper, downspeced versions of look alike products made by the manufacturers specifically for these sales, or C - just sh*t that no one would buy at full price anyway. Sure there's the odd headline bargain to lure people in but by enlarge if you shop smart the rest of the year then you can probably often match black friday prices anyway, and you're buying what you actually want/need rather than whats on offer just because it looks cheap.

Black friday, bu**er off back to the States!

In reality the hype I reckon will have been bigger last year as it was the first year we saw any 'black Friday' deals in the UK. This year I suspect with certain retailers (i.e. Asda) opting out that it won't be that big a deal, hopefully it'll fizzle out come next year.

Judging by the fact HUKD has gone offline and I can't actually checkout on Argos, we're stuck with Black Friday for a long time!

Yep saw that email! What they don't tell you is that it's last years model (not got a problem with that, it just reinforces for me that BF is a clear out of old stock that hasn't sold). I know cos I was considering getting one as the colours match my C'dale road bike!! Might pick one up now it's a lot cheaper though.

I'm not happy with myself. I went into tescos to get some cat litter, mentally sneering and feeling superior to the 'fools' who get worked up about black Friday, only to come out with the aforementioned cat litter, plus a Phillips Airfryer. Well it was only £50...

I don't care enough to find it abhorrent, I just refused to acknowledge it...

However, I'm off today and the Mrs has gone out so took the opportunity to do my Xmas shopping ( I only buy for her) and must admit I've been delighted with the savings I've made so far!! I'm happy with the free delivery more than anything!

I've been quite well behaved. Bought some stuff from Wiggle that I'd hoped to be discounted today and wasn't. Which is fine as it was a good price already. Also bought some socks on-line.

Bar that, nothing and as I have work to do this afternoon, I suspect it'll stay that way.

Having seen your shots in the past Grum I did wonder why you were asking. A bit like asking a Pro cyclist to recommend an entry level ride 🙂

Sorry!

I also work in 'retail' (a very quiet site) at the moment and my new job in the new year (a not very quiet site) will mean I'm sat in a panicked situation this time next year wondering why X service is running slowly and erroring. Personally I'd prefer it all to go away, but this time of year keeps me employed. Thanks people 🙂

My puchases so far today =
2 x pints of ale from my work local and a ham and mustard sandwich, damn those deals!

I know nothing about BMXs but this appears to be a pretty hefty reduction:

It's always tiresome when ignorant peasants don't realise just what a big deal I am and bother me with their petty questions. 😉

Tempted by the Garmin 810 but in the end I went for the Garmin Touring.
It wasn't a specific BF deal but it was still a good price and I got an extra 10% off with my British Cycling CRC code.
Oh and some new tyres too.

Not exactly an exciting and shiny new TV but so what.

Puzzled by all the "I loathe Black Friday in all its hideous consumer-capitalist glory... but I did get some cheap stuff for Christmas" posts.

It's not like shops are encouraging us to send each other 'Happy Black Friday' cards or anything (yet). Let's face it, we all need to buy stuff, and we might as well do it when it's a bit cheaper.

Binners, honestly the most fun bike I have at the moment is my BMX - track a 20 minute drive away, I don't always make the most use of it, but when I do I don't regret a penny of the purchase price!

Go on, you know you want to 😈
