Got a bit of an interesting wee adventure planned for Monday evening, but thanks to a landslide at Rest and Be Thankful last night (again!) I'm having to rearrange the location.

I could really do with a couple of bivvy bags for mrs peterfile and I, since two of my alternative locations mean a tent isn't going to work.

Alpkit are sold out of the ones I wanted to buy (and I doubt they would get here in time anyway).

Does anyone have two I could borrow? I'm in Glasgow but can travel at the weekend to pick up. I'll reward your kindness with beer.

🙂

Got a Decathlon nearby? Their (only shower proof) bivvy (£20 ea) + a tarp (£20 as well) is a way of doing this

I think I might have. I can't seem to find a link on their site to the bivvy though.

Showerproof might be a problem (8mm of rain forecast and i'm going to be sleeping at altitude)

might just take the outer sheet for the quasar, a couple of trekking poles and some bunjee cord.

tent not work in what way? fly for quasar, might as well take the poles too?

use rocks for the guying. one advantage of the quasar+ or mountain quasar or whatever it is I have 🙂

one gash bivvy bag here but up north, will be in Aviemore tomorrow..

aye, i don't mind pitching on rocky summits kcal, it's just that there isn't much in the way of a summit! space for hunkering down, but not much else.

might just take the tent and backtrack to somewhere suitable near the summit if the weather is horrid. If the weather is decent then the sleeping bags and mats will do, with the outer on hand in case it rains through the night.

I have a couple, I'm not sure I could guarantee either in a downpour, just becuase they aren't high end, rather than having used them in the wet (old REI and a recent TKMaxx number).

In Edinburgh, could post to you if you like.

That would be awesome Al.

I'm leaving straight after work on monday. I'll probably take the tent as a back up, so that gives me some peace of mind if it starts getting really miserable.

I'll send you an email.
