Much cheapness and may be suitable in my new shed.

It'll hook onto the front wheel.

Thought so. So bike basically stands up on back wheel.

The bike tends to hang off the front wheel from them - the back wheel off the ground against the wall.

I'm hoping yo set them so that they are just leaning back with the weight of the bars. It's really only for the girls two rarely used bikes and my pub bike so the bars will be spun 90 degrees so they are in line with the wheel.

Mate had them in his shop for service storage. To get more in make sure they have up and down written on them 🙂 you can get more in that way.
If they are not hanging they will not be as secure I think.

I have some of these and they do the job ok, although it can be a bit of a wiggle to get larger MTB tyres in. Probably best set up so the rear wheel doesn't touch the ground (or only just) otherwise the handlebars / front wheel tend to flop about a bit.

There are loads on Amazon, and cheaper too if you don't have to pay postage.

Got 4 bikes hung like this - back wheels just off ground. Stagger them so you can get more in a confined space.

I think you can use them at ground level (ish) too - just to hold the bike upright eg. for cleaning, or just waiting for you.
Just shove the back wheel in.
