It's my birthday on Saturday and my missus has told me to go and order/buy something up to around £150.

I was going to get a GPS unit, but I'm not sure just how much I'll use it if I'm honest.

Other thoughts are a new set of brakes for my HT as I've got Elixirs on the FS and fancy having the same brakes on my other bike for continuity etc.

Any other ideas?

What bikes do you have?

Actually, does it have to be bike related? You could buy something lovely like a pen, or some cufflinks (if you wear such a thing!)

If not, though, what bikes and what do they need?

FS is a Nicolai Helius CC
HT1 is a Cove Handjob
HT2 is a Genesis iO
Roadie is a Raleigh Airlite Race

So I've got those bases covered.

Don't wear cuff-links, have a couple of nice Cross/Waterman pens and a watch I got off my Dad for crimbo.

Bike related is pretty inevitable to be honest, I've got a workstand and a decent set of tools too

How about (for either you alone or you and your wife) a skills day, or a guided day or a guided weekend or a b&b mtb weekend? I remember (vaguely) a nice b&b being reveiewed in the mag a while back, seem to recall it would be around budget?

Would that be the Flow course @ Great Rock per chance?

Something I like to do, just checked out the website but I think I'm working on the weekend in July.

Gotta figure this out quick folks, only got 3 posting days left 😆

Proper Campag corkscrew?
I have one lined up for one day, definitely not something I could justify normally but really quite nice.

Can recommend the great rock skills courses (Ed is a fantastic tutor) and the dog and partridge for great food and hospitality.

How would a session with a coffee machine help anything?

Charity donation. Buys you a warm glow?

(you clearly don't need any more junk in your life...)

No offense but if Mrs iDave asked me to buy my own present I'd feel insulted. What's the point? I'd rather have something personal from her costing a tenner than some pocket money.

iDave,

Basically because I live in that London during the week and only see her at weekends, and it's just the way we do things.

I was lucky enough to get a 456 for my 40th birthday.

My wife thought she'd caught me looking at naughty ladies when I slammed down the laptop screen.

On being asked to open it, there I was, lusting after a new frame.

In due course a box from On One arrived.

Thanks Aimee,

APF

Mag subs (maybe even STW :p )? Or just splash out on something you wouldn't normally justify (like some Assos or Rapha bib shorts). Or a wheel-truing stand and start learning (if you haven't already).

New cranks
Pimping new pedals

If you don't see her much, the definitely put it towards a mucky weekend somewhere filthy like Blackpool. Or Wigan.

What's wrong with the jetski? You can cruise for up to an hour at 2.5 mph, deflate it and charge it from your cars dag lighter on the way home. If I were a rich man I know were my £150 would be going. Id have change too.

how about a good poking then?

I don't want anything for my birthday, I'm completely happy with what I own. My girlfriends stuck for ideas too.

Buy her something, you'll feel better for making her smile. A bottle of Chablis Premier Cru, couple of wine glasses, a rose. Or a piece of jewelery.
I think I would.
