Its the Mrs birthday next week and I have no idea what to get !

She likes Dalwhinnie whisky so I have thought a whisky tasting thing by post... any recommendations?

Also we both like coffee and try different varieties predominantly from Rave whilst sticking with our favourite otherwise, but the Rave their tasters just appear to be what you can buy routinely anyhow so it wont be much of a change.

Are their any good monthly 'sample' things for both whisky and coffee?

Ta

This came out of the Whisky Live exhibitions during the pandemic. I bought a (smaller) box and it was really good.

Taster pack from an smaller roaster?

Square Mile do a 12 lessons option, but it's likely to be pricey.

I got a quarterly set from the Whisky tasting company for my birthday. Nicely presented and good whisky so far although overall not sure the value for money.
Also got a online tasting from Isle of Raasay for last years birthday (spotting a theme?) which was good.

Another possibility would be membership of the Scotch malt whisky society? Depends if she likes ordering weird and wonderful whiskies though.

I think that is the point though to widen her horizons a bit when it comes to whisky - shes always stuck to the same but had some Japanese whisky at Le Manoir last summer that she loved ... bloody should have done for the price !

I wish I liked whisky but a 18th birthday party gone wrong means I have never been able to drink the stuff since 🙁

Problem with them is they are mostly about full bottles unless you live near one of their sites and can visit a tasting session.
You could get a couple of packs from the whisky exchange. They have a whole bunch of miniature sets.

gift sets

Quarterhouse coffee do some nice stuff although not sure how their subscriptions work.

I can't link to it (work PC doesn't like alcohol based links), but have a look at the website of Nickolls & Perks. They're a wine and whiskey merchant that do some great online tastings. They send the drink out in he post them taste then together online.

Flaviar do a membership thing for whiskey (and others). I think it used to be monthly but that seems to have changed.

I got a taster subscription from https://thecoffeefactory.co.uk/ for Christmas, their coffee was really quite good.

I bought my bro a whiskey miniature from

https://www.oldandrarewhisky.co.uk/

Surname is Cobb and I found a rate Australian whiskey called "Old Cobb" - not a taster but he thought it was a good gift.

My enquiries came back.

"Tasting sets for a one off:
https://www.masterofmalt.com/tasting-set/
https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/c/828/sample-gift-sets
There will be something to her taste in there that should also hit the right budget point.

Given more info I'm happy to help narrow it down

I also subscribe to this:
https://whisky-me.com/
A new 50ml sample every month, for a fairly reasonable price. It's a decent way to find new whiskies."

My wife got me one of the rum tasting kits from Masters of malt for Christmas one year. Price per drink is expensive for home drink prices but was a good way of trying a wide range without commiting to a bottle.

So the winner was Whisky Me.

Appeared to be best bang for buck and the first one has already been sampled and apparently very nice.

A 6 month subscription with 1 scotch + 1 world whisky per month
