I've always had sparrows nesting in my gaff for as long as I've lived here - there's a little gap beneath the guttering and I've seen them flying in and out from my bedroom window for years.

This morning though I woke up to a commotion in the loft that I've not heard before and have found what must be an old nest on the drive. Is this sparrows cleaning out an old nest after several years, or some new bird-type that's not happy with the sparrow arrangement and wants to make their own kind of nest?

Tried google, but no use - would really like to know; it's a bit sad seeing an old nest all over the drive / car 🙂

Ours are always squabbling about something and they'll build a new nest no problem. Carry on.

Noisy little buggers! I’m sure they’re the model for the Pixar short ‘For The Birds’, the way they scrap among themselves on the feeders. Only the starlings make more noise, but they’re bigger, and there’s more of them these days - probably because of how much I’m spending on food!

We had Jackdaws last summer, fascias were knackered and they could get in through the corner.

Christ they dont half make a racket, especially when they have got hatchlings.

Even better when they decided to have a second clutch later on in summer.

New fascias sorted them out though.

I'm hoping they'll just start again.
The birds know it's a good, safe nesting spot and should start to build a new one.

A bat is nesting in an outside crack in our bay window. Nice to have, however we don't want any damage to the property. Under law you can't touch a bat or move its habitat.
