Usually more than one bird, when the plane is doing 500 mph any decent sized bird can make an impact !
Lucky hit I guess. That looks expensive though.

Not for the birds.
Looks like a sticker to me.
and I bet the seats needed cleaning as well.
Biggest issue there could well be the distorted radome; it'll disrupt the airflow to the pitots (airspeed sensors) and the angle of attack gauges.
Could well have been some false speed indications on the flight deck, as well as the lack of visibility. Good on the crew for getting it down safely.
Good job they hit the nose, rather than the engine intakes!
Er.... that Wikibase article is about hail damage; no mention of a bird.
Most probably caused by a baby robin (well someone had to say it 😀 )
Looks like harro has made changes in the last few minutes to the wikbase!
It did reference birds about 10 minutes ago.
Damn the internets and stealth edits!
That looks expensive though.
Nahh, that'll knock right out.. My mate kev 'll sort that for you, £50.
Was the bird on a conveyor belt?
I bet the initial damag would be caused by the bird , but then some of it would be floppy soft sheets of ally being in the shape of a brick doing 400 mph

*wanders off blushing*
"The airplane took off from runway 18 at 17:18 hours local time. After depature the aircraft entered a hail storm, damaging the flight deck wind screen and nose cone. "
Hail looks more likely.
It looks as though someone has taken a sawn-off to the it, and there doesn't seem to be much bird on it.
Look, you know when you read something and see what you expect to see, not what it says, despite reading it twice? Well that. 😳
Stealth edit by harro 🙂
