I've just moved into a new house & at the back of the garden, 20m-ish back from house is a bird box.

Over my morning cuppa I've noticed the box being cased by a pair of blue tits.

Has anyone set up a camera in a bird box to watch some chicks grow in the spring?

Google seems to have everything from £15 "spy" cameras to mega money set ups.

This is more a "be interesting to peek inside" rather than spend hundreds on an all singing and dancing affair.

Anyone down anything similar & if so, what did you use?

Make sure you get clearance from the tits before you start filing their bedroom antics

I bought a couple of bird box cameras at Lidl, think they were about £20 or so.
They have a USB connection, so work as a standard webcam, with a 20m extension cable. I had them connected to a Raspberry Pi, set to take a photo every minute. Or you could get software for motion detection, maybe better than getting loads of photos without anything happening.

The first camera stopped working, seems it got water inside the plug. I should try and fix it sometime, ready for next spring.
