I'd like to think he turned up in a Mitsubishi Zero.

The comment at 3:35 is pretty funny considering he's at Armstrong's store.

Last time I was in a bike shop and saw the prices for new bikes I wanted to start a revolution too!

What tyres for socially-aware acoustic noodling?

I'm sorry but I don't get Billy Bragg. Does anyone here actually own any of his music?

Only the early stuff before he went all commercial. 😆

He did the first gig I ever went to supporting the Pogues and The Men They Couldn't Hang. Levi Stubbs Tears is a classic

(although the Redskins version is a bit better imho)

Yes I own some of those old fashioned compact discs bearing his name and was even happy to hand over cash for them (Peel sessions are a favourite)

sounds an opportunity for some gratuitous links

I like billy bragg, he once reassured me that everything might not beok, but that was ok. I appreciated it at the time. He's quite "right on" and i don't always agree with him, but i respect his passion

When was that, then? Here's a tee shirt for you:

Yes I have Billy's music, and I've got tickets to see him in Frome later this year. Really looking forward to it, too, I really like the latest album.

I respect any man who champions the poor and denegrates the rich... 😯

...from the comfort of their clifftop mansion. 😆

I guess it's all to do with what you listen to music for, and everyone has a different answer to that.
Yes, I'm sure lots of people on here have his music, and listen to it.
He's just a singer, you don't have to 'get him'.

He's [s]just[/s] a singer,

I take issue with that.

I'm sure he'll be gutted when he finds out.

I've got some of his music. I don't agree with all his politics, but I hugely admire his passion. I love people who care deeply about what they do or what they believe in.

One of my favourites, is Billy.

Not so much his political stuff (although I agree with most of it) but his love songs are the most honest and truthful I've ever heard.
Man's a genius.

I've stopped going to his gigs though because of selfish bastards who turn up and then talk all the way through his set.

kennyp has it 100%.
I don't always agree with what he sings, but he's a great songwriter, and as said, sings with passion. I'd rather have that, even out of tune, then some of the stuff that is around now.

He's done exactly the same as the labour party, become capitalist. Whilst Mr bragg has simply made sensible personal choices the Labour party has betrayed a whole class.

I liked his music musically but vowed never to be anything like him or the (mainly) negative, down-beat and depressing things he sings about. A counter model of things I don't want to be.

Why let Bragg bring me down when at the same time Goldman was singing "j'irai au bout de mes rêves" and "je te donne".

I've still got a t-shirt from a gig at the Ritz in Manchester circa 1988. That was £5 well spent.
Love his early stuff but didn't really buy anything after Workers Playtime, might give the new album a try, what is the name of it gents?

Great music! Took my wife to a Billy Bragg gig, she liked sexuality but had no idea he was political 😎

One of the finest songs written and performed by the same man. Some of his politics are not for me, but he is a really nice bloke (well he was when I met him) and his passion is admirable.
