Recently I have managed to save a few bob by changing my bank account, doing the PPI thing and generally being a bit careful. And then this morning the house insurance reminder landed on the mat, an eye watering £1034. That includes the 6 year no-claim bonus amounting to %30 off. So a bit of fuming later I have decided to switch from The Prudential to Hastings who offer considerably better cover for 1/3 of the price. Whilst on the price comparison site I saw that The Prudential would offer me a similar deal to my current cover, online, for approx. £320 despite me already being a long term customer. So I called them up to discuss terms. And the best they could offer was £460:00. I ended up being forwarded to the 'loyalty team' who managed to reduce my premium to £381:00. WTF is going on? I have not claimed for years, never been late paying premiums etc and the whole system seems disjointed and out to screw over complacent customers stuck in the convenient inertia of monthly direct debits and annual automatic renewals. Grrrr.

So goodbye Prudential and hello Hastings.

ANYWAY.... I'm now on a Broadband mission. I'm a 'Bear of little brain' so I'm sort of struggling. I want broadband and to be honest I could probably do without a landline if I could persuade Mrs A. I'm not interested in TV packages either. Currently I'm with TalkTalk (I know, don't start. Fortunately I got away with it, phew) but I am too durrrr to be able to work out if I'm paying them or somebody else line rental. And the deals from the various providers sort of might need to know this I perhaps maybe think. Possibly.

So, in a nutshell, do Broadband deals include line rental? HELP.

ALL but Virgin do - I spent a very, very long time searching.
The best at the moment (for me anyway) is EE.
New customers can get landline rental and fibre for about £20 per month. Fibre is basically £5.
I couldn't as still classed as a "returning" customer BUT loyalty discount having mobile with them bought it close enough.
Currently rather happy with a speed that has only dropped to 32mb once and sits pretty much at 45mb.

45mb! I ran a speed test earlier and reached the lofty heights of 2.48mb/s.
