OK, so I'm a noob at this but I've been trying to post some videos I made using my GoPro camera and I'd put a bit of music on.
Both the facists at Facebook and Youtube have deleted my videos claiming copyright infringement. But I thought I'd followed the rules - using only snippets of tracks and making sure that the bike "noise" could still be heard so the music couldn't be used.
How do people manage this with their vids? It's really annoying.
I've just had an email from Youtube relating to a video I put up in 2006, I think I have another vid that uses music from a mate's band with full permission. Perhaps you could approach some up and coming musiscians and get in there before the record companies get their claws in.
I get the idea that it's copyright. But on YouTube there's loads of crap that is just the music with some awful pastiche of pictures or lyrics. Essentially it gives access to the entire track do I can understand why people might feel aggrieved.
But I was careful and followed the YouTube rules. Snippets of tracks and no way of stringing anything together and they just plainly refused to upload it.
Am I just unlucky.
Use Vimeo instead.
All those vids on youtube with copyright music get blocked in places like Germany (although a proxy sorts that 😉 ). Blimmin' GEMA guys will usually block the entire vid of anything that even sounds like it has music in it.
I much prefer to hear the bike noise than people's favourite tunes, but there's plenty of free music out there (Jamendo, ccmixter, etc., etc.)
Unlucky/using music that is blocked or isnt licensed in this country. Youtube have agreements with a lot of record labels so that if a video is recognized as having a copyrighted song in it, they'll keep it and insert a buy this song link into the video. With others they just take it down. All the ones I've put up have been ok.
You could use some classical music.
