A little blog post about my overnighter last weekend if anyone fancies a read.

Bookmarking for later. I too bike packed the Shropshire hills a couple of weeks ago using the Jack Mytton way
Nice one!
When I looked through your kit list I thought: "I'd leave that behind, and that, and that, ..." Then below the list was another with exactly those items for removal 👍 A 22,000mAh battery is a bit much for just one night! While the list "looks" a lot when itemised it's not that different from mine (see the thread about low gearing for bikepacking from last week) and a lot of it does pack down and there's no one "right" list.
It's always a learning experience: some things work; some don't; some things don't get used; etc. I'm looking at it having been through the process for several years now so know what I need for a given area and forecast. This period also coincided with some of the bigger bits of kit like sleeping bag, sleeping mat and tent all approaching their end of life so I took the opportunity to get light, compact items - going from an 800g bag to a 400g one with the same temp rating costs but also seriously reduces your load for example.
There is one big omission in your list: no hip flask! Heathen!!!!
Tip: not sure how you packed but taking items, especially the soft items, out of their packaging to pack will reduce your pack size as they will mould themselves into the available space. Your microfibre towel for example is in a box (I think?)
Cheers Whitestone. Yes it's alot of kit but as mentioned it was a tester for bigger longer rides. Once packed it was all all crammed in with no air gaps so I am happy with the way I did it for now. I'm sure it'll get refined over time.
Oh and no hip flask... I'm not much of a drinker and just the smell of whisky turns my stomach.
Thanks for sharing, an enjoyable read and a 'down to earth' trip which I can relate to! Need to get back out for some overnighters...
