Canyon spectral cf8 right sided bottle cage and sod pedals stolen today at 2.15 from outside bike shop at birches valley.
Male 30’s green north face jacket jeans or leggings with trainers.

To the bike thief I hate you- you’ve stolen the only outlet I have away from a tough home situation. Hope you rot in hell.

If I knew how to post your photo I would.

Forgot to say thank you to everyone who stopped to let me check.
To the gent who bought me coffee and cake your a star.
To the bike shop for having ace cameras.
The police for turning up and having good try.

To the thief - your face is going to be plastered over social media by the end of today.

Sorry to hear that. Not heard of too many thefts from there recently, was it locked?

Not good, I often have a browse of the bike shop, as soon as my mates get bored and come in the shop I go out. They think I’m over cautious.

Assuming it was not locked, but still brazen stealing from there as if you get caught there’s a lot of bikers to give you a black eye.

2mins in bike shop - not locked done it god knows how many times. Checking on insurance but suspect it’s not a good answer.
Absolutely brazen.

Ah mate feel for you. I leave mine unlocked there all the time when just pooping in. Normally other riders about so has a safe vibe to it.
Good luck with insurance.

Sorry to hear this, it must be a terrible feeling.

If I knew how to post your photo I would.

If you're plastering the scrote's mug all over FB you can get the image URL and use that to post a pic of the **** on here.

Theives there are known to wear biking clothing, you're taking a massive risk leaving anything unlocked and popping into the shop.

Assuming it was not locked

Makes no odds there. They cut the locks and snapped our bikes out of the carrier's when I went for a piss.

It's a horrible feeling, completely disproportionate to the value of the bike (I'd MUCH rather my car was stolen, for example).

I hope it works out for you.

I have a set of 29er Maxxis Forekasters which I might / could donate to help get you back up & running

Might help get you out quicker on bike sorted!

Maybe we could have a sticky @mods

Which is why you need proper boltcropper proof locks.

Another reason why I do my best to avoid the place. Why is bike theft so prevalent at Cannock?

No, other than the racket and showers of sparks for several minutes attracting unwanted attention!

Sorry for your loss OP.

Doesn't look like your average scrote going by the video. Perhaps dressed up well to try to blend in, or an opportunistic theft?

If the police have put the video up then it's not going to be the usual scrotes.

These scrotes don't need punishment. They need GUNISHMENT.

Sorry, nothing useful to add. I can however provide a handlebar-mounted bell. Which will at least prevent further thefts.

Thanks all really appreciate this. Quite down in the dumps today- guess that’s normal. Also feel like bit of a turnip— never normally leave my bike out of sight — frazzled after a rubbish week and hey presto.

Think I’ll give winter a miss this year (just as well I hadn’t put my winter lights on yet!)and save some cash for spring. Boring turbo sessions here I come! Uggghhhhhhh.

Ironically I have a 2013 cube 29er with some borked forks - that’s why I upgraded to the canyon. Seeing as it’s my anniversary next week and I fancy living better not spend any more on bikes.

Anyway 2 names mentioned in posts elsewhere- passed to police before I name and shame. Contemplating reward- not sure how effective that will be.

Setup alerts all over the place uk and abroad so it’s just a matter of time before it resurfaces or is abandoned.

Even with the idiotic camera angle, they're still pretty good shots. Any other cameras around the place (don't know Cannock too well), outside cafe, near toilets etc which might have a better angle?

Hope you get it back and the scum gets what he deserves (and not just a "you're a very naughty boy" telling off from the rozzers).

Another reason why I do my best to avoid the place. Why is bike theft so prevalent at Cannock?

It's because it's in very close proximity to 2 towns which, as with any town have their rough areas but in this instance it's very easy to access the trail center from them. It's also so busy it seems pretty easy to make off with an unlocked bike and disappear quickly without a shred of a clue whose done it. Think of a Welsh trail center that's in the middle of nowhere in comparison where you'd need to be a bit more organised with a vehicle etc. Don't need that in Cannock. A couple minutes down the road (actually a quick DH down the Heritage trail) from Birches Valley and you're in Rugeley.

I'll admit I've done exactly the same fairly regularly and strolled in the shop to buy a flapjack or have a browse and left my bike unlocked. Hopefully the CCTV footage will lead to it's recovery.

This is difficult for me - it’s hard for me to even type this.Excuse the vagueness - its deliberate. My son has cerebral palsy - the circumstances around this are difficult beyond measure. Unless you’ve been there you have no idea.As a result my wife and I don’t get a lot of time. The 5-6 hrs I get at Cannock lets me get through the week. The last few years have been hell. I was just beginning to feel like my old self and having the bike nicked is just the icing on the cake. Getting back on the turbo is not the same as being able to ride forest trails with focus and concentration it needs.

OP, sorry to hear about everything.
Do you need any parts to get the old Cube up and running so you can get 'out' on the bike?

Yours if you want them.

Llandegla is just as bad and the middle of nowhere. Everytime I've been someone has done a drive by or walked off with a high end full sus or three
