You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So the summer house/booze den/manshed/den of iniquity is well underway. The actual shed part of it on the side is approx 3.4m deep by 2m wide with a .7 door bang in the middle. Will be housing all our camping gear, usual garden stuff like the mower etc and then 4 mtbs and 1 BMX, Â any intuitive ideas to hang or store them well out if the way. Only the BMX and one mtb will need regular access as the other 3 mtbs are my pub/summer/easy pedals bike and the wife's and daughter's bikes which hardly get used these days.
I've tried lots of different ways but happiest with my current method...got two lengths of timber across the rear wall spaced about 4 inches away from it, then vertical rough sawn uprights to take mtb and road wheels. (in other words, a posh pallet rack) Roll bikes in rear wheel first. Above this I have a couple of stout timbers across the space with 18mm OSB to make a huge 4ft deep shelf, all the junk/spares etc gets piled up there. Just high enough to get the saddles underneath. Put a strip light at the back under the shelf so I can see how much mud is dropping off the bikes 🙂
P.S Lawnmower can park among the bikes unless you've bought too many
If you can remove/refit front wheels easily then doing so allows the bikes to take up considerably less room. I bodged together a stand which held 2 MTBs and a street trials bike upright on rear wheels with the handlebars turned 90 degrees (why you remove front wheel first). The three bikes are contained within 110cm x 95cm of floorspace and can easily access any one of them. Would probably just as well using an arrangement of hooks on the wall but that wasn't an option for me.
Tracey how many of you live in that house 😳. A fine collection!
None, they all live in the bike store, which is why it has to be so organised...
