Has anyone shipped a bike overseas to, say, Canada? If so, how much did it cost and who did you use?

I was only going to take 2 bikes (Giant Trance and Charge Plug) when I move there, but I'm now thinking about taking my DH bike (26 inch Devinci Wilson) as well.

Yes several to Oz I used

https://www.transglobalexpress.co.uk

Get the dimensions of the bike box and trim the height until you get within the max girth of the courier. It will give you a volumetric weight of 32kg for the box which you can pack out with anything else you want to take with you. Air freight UPS I think was a good price, not sure who is best now.

Wow! They are coming at a £300-400 pounds.

Sounds close, check you are not incurring fees for the size there

Edit I recently paid about £250 for 20kg of stuff shipped from Oz to here in a much smaller box. Air freight is not cheap!!

It's often cheaper to send the wheels separately to the frame and components. Remove the fork and lay that alongside the frame. Use plenty of plumbers insulation pipe and ensure nothing can move inside the box.
