Yes, I know what I wrote.
Basically I'm looking for a towball mounted rack that can accommodate a dog getting in and out the boot if such a thing exists. I already have a roof rack so that's not discounted but I'd prefer bikes on the back if I can leaving room up too for a box. We need the rack to tilt down with enough clearance for a dog to jump in or, even better, to the side.
At the moment I'm just looking for ideas. We have a Travall divider so getting him in and out via the back doors isn't really happening. He's a 37kg greyhound so not exactly small and his shoulders touch the roof at the boot lip on our Focus estate so persuading him to limbo under the divider would be an exarciwe in futility.
Not against the idea of a trailer if it really came to it but that's a significant expense and there's the storage issue, I do have a donor that could be converted though.
I have a Buzzrack Scorpion (which is an excellent rack) and it tilts back until the bike is nearly horizontal - It’s a pretty common rack and there are a fair few images online showing it tilted when fitted to a range of cars. My dog (Retriever) can be persuaded to jump in with the bike dropped out of the way but I have an SUV with a fairly big boot opening. If I was doing this regularly (or with a Focus estate) I might be tempted to look at one of those folding ramps you can get for older dogs, assuming that it would fit in at a slight angle…
My atera strada tilts enough to open the tailgate on my Viano fully.

I never even thought of that, that's a good shout.

I think you might actually have hit the nail here! That's mad, I'd be happy with a DL for £150 as well.
