Can anybody recommend bike insurance that covers theft at home and out and about?

I used to use my home insurance but the list of exclusions got so long that it was almost pointless having it. I have also looked at Sundays but they have some odd things in the policy that wont work for me. Stuff like - "We will not pay any claim for theft of Your Bicycle from the Secure Vehicle Rack of Your vehicle between the hours of 21:00-06:00, regardless of how it was secured."

I often drive places after work on a Friday, that means I have no cover if the bike gets stolen after 9pm. What about cover when camping etc?

Or am I unrealistic and all policies are the same so I'd be best spending the money of locks and an angry doberman?

Bikmo policies seem pretty comprehensive. Never claimed, but read good things. Not cheap, but discounted for BC members.

Crash damage, racing, stolen when in car, etc etc...

I use Laka and they also cover accidental damage which came in handy on my Carbon Road bike earlier this year. I have referral code if you are interested

To add, they dealt with my damage claim really well and I have no complaints. You have to use a "Gold" level lock when out and about but they can be picked up pretty reasonably from the likes of OnGuard if you don't already have one

Nationwide home insurance is good and their rules seem to consist of "it must be inside your house or garage, or locked to something immovable". End of restrictions.

Out and about insurance can be added for not much. Bikes up to £1000 by default, listed bikes if more than that.

Not sure about damage. I should probably find out...

Mine are specified items with esure.

I decided long ago that I would never go on a ride carrying the type of lock that would satisfy any insurers, so tend not to worry about them being stolen when out and about.
