as title really found a decent s40 localish (still a 40mile drive to it).
it has folding seats so bike in is theoretical.
has anyone done it? is it achievable? i have a trek 29er and it has that knock block which in the past was never a problem but might be now!
Not having seen the nock block in person, so just watching the video and having experience of getting bikes in a small saloon. I think wheel off length wise it will fit.
The issue will be:
1. the boot appature - can you angle the bike to slide it in and up the folded seats
2. the hirght of the boot, so can you angle the steering enough with modern wide bars and the knock block.
If you want an S40, is it not worth the 40 mile drive and take your bike to see if it will fit.
What size is the frame? Larger frames give less wiggle room.
thanks bsims. yea i will take it down, it is worth the drive but wantes to know if it was a conplete nonstarter.
frame is 18.5" so average size, but is a 29er so expect it to be a bit of a pain!
We have an old style (2003) volvo s40. A Voodoo Bizango goes in with front wheel off and back seats down, as does a road bike. Bit of a pain to get them in but they do fit.
The above post sounds promising.
My mate has one and manages to fit his Orange 224 in it with the front wheel off
@ravingdave just out of interest what paint job is on the car in question? My mate has the metallic gold version and it's one of the best looking paint jobs I've ever seen.
thanks all might be a goer, just as sonething a bit different fron the usual hatches.
car is boring resale black! love an out there cokour. but increasingly hard to find these days
My dad has an s40 and gets his giant in the back taking of both wheels. Don’t think he has any issues and regularly does that plus all the stuff for him and mum on a holiday.
@ravingdave What year is it? If it's 2004 or older, I've just taken back possession of mine from Dad and happy to experiment shoving a (M) Stumpy in there with some pics to save you a trip.
Edit: it's fabulous car that I've owned for 11 years without any hassle, but the boot 'aperture' as mentioned above, is absolutely crap. As is the boot itself. It's woeful.
The day after we bought our Seat Ibiza estate, mrs_oab announced she had a soft spot for her parents S40 (which they had for a decade without issue) and that she didn't know they made a V40... Great cars IMO.
