I'm looking for a permanent tracker for a not-cheap bike I use for commuting, I'd rather get back if it ever were to get nicked. It already has a heavy high grade d-lock.

All the start ups on the internet seem seems a bit hit-and-miss on the reviews. Apart from Velocate, which seems actually good (and definitely expensive)

Anyone have any experience with any of these?

Used various trackers at work, not on bicycles though. I don’t think a gps is any guarantee you’ll get a bike back. They are not necessarily accurate enough to pin to an individual premises - if it shows a flat in a block or a lockup in a bank of them how can you guarantee which one it is in? It may be difficult to get any police to enter a premises to get it back, more so with a degree of inaccuracy.

Hmmm you make a good point about getting the police to enter a premises

Some of them come with an accelerometer/geofence. So if someone moves your bike, or it leaves a pre-defined area, an alert goes off on your phone. Relies on you hearing it and being near enough to do something about it though...
