Between Edinburgh and the Borders.

Looks like a good idea: https://www.bordersbuses.co.uk/scotlands-first-fully-bike-friendly-bus-route

I recall one day ~7 years ago when the rear sliding axle bolt slipped on my old Singlecross SS part way into work, jamming the wheel from turning. Bar steward bus driver wouldn't let me on bus despite it being practically empty at ~0645 and nobody using the pram/disabled vehicle space near the front of the bus.

Had to get taxi. 🙁

I thought the bus routes further north in Scotland were doing this already?
Think the bike gets chucked in the compartments underneath though not inside.

All the buses in Iceland had bike racks front and back.

Front racks ala Canada and SF would comply with pedestrian safety rules here

Wouldn't. Auto correct on this phone is dumb sometimes.

Read through the rules and I think you'll find it's at the drivers discretion. I certainly wouldn't be planning any trip that relied on it.

Which is no different that these new buses really. If the racks are full the driver will say no .

But it's better than what they currently have in the borders I guess.

That's the only time I've heard of folk not getting on the 201..... A number of club mates have used it over the years as a bail out options if bonked or bike broken down up the valley.

Its shite. The busses are great but the service is bobbins.

I get the x62 everyday. The app lets me track the busses so i can check the bike one is coming in the morning.

BUT

The service back is crap times and really unreliable. Reasonably often you'd need to catch a bus at 1445 or 1930.

Its a shame but i've seen one bike on the bus in the last 4 months.

One thing I've noticed is that most of not all of those types of rack won't accommodate a tyre wider than about 2.1/2.2.
