Years ago I saw a few alarms that were basically just a long thin cable that when cut, set the alarm off. I can't find any now that don't have movement sensors too. I just want something to wrap around my bikes, or even wrap around the metal shed to make a noise. It's very quiet here and  the neighbours are pretty good at reacting to suspicious activity.

Abus make a good one. It's the bordo granite 6500 alarm, but its not cheap, and is now about £140+ 100Db so pretty loud

I too used to have a little alarm cable lock, light, simple, no physical security but loud.

And I too was looking the other day and came up with nothing.

For me I'd want something similar to what I used to have, rather than a heavyweight job like that abus.

I'll keep looking

I have a Knog Scout thing which is next to useless. It's a movement sensor but the alarm is so quiet that on a busy street, no one would notice it. Completely useless.

Still got mine - will see if I can locate one - used to use it when at our caravan, and now when camping, in addition to decent locks.

How about a disk lock?  I use something similar on my motorbike.

I converted a key operated battery shed alarm.

Basically I cut the battery earth wire and extended it.

Alarm is in the garage eaves, earth wire goes to a switch fitted underneath a wall socket so it's out of view.

Then the wire goes around the bike with a bullet connector so it's easy to undo.

So the earth wire goes round in a big loop that's easy to use and if broken sets the alarm off.

I had a couple of alarms 20 years ago.

One had a lock integrated into it, it worked as someone had had a go at the lock and broken it's bracket.

The other was a motion sensor with a rape alarm siren. It ran off a keypad. I had my bike locked up on a high street and couldn't get the alarm to stop- forgotten the code? I spent a good 5 min with 100db alarm going off - in sight of the police station- with 50 odd folk walking past me and ignoring me and the alarm. I had to unscrew the battery compartment to get it to turn off.

So good for alerting you and scaring off undetermined thieves only.

I don't want a movement sensor though. The ones I've had before tend to go off accidentally which will be a pain if I'm away for a few days. Just want something simple that a thive needs to cut which sounds an alarm.

There used to be a motion sensor alarm one built into a front light that was advertised in the Cycling UK magazine - not seen it for a while and Google isn't throwing up anything, so I'll stop rambling
