So, it would appear that iPod shuffle has served up Mark'n'Lards final show. Excellent 🙂

Fancy a brew?

Am I the only person who found them completely un-funny.

Stop-Carry on

Slim shady the squirrel

etc.

Even Scott Mills made me laugh, Greg James on the other hand is a bit rubbish with a handfull of not very good ideas nicked form other shows done badly.

My daughters maths teacher is called Mr Protheroe. Always makes me smile - he looks about 20 so I didn't bother explaining why I kept grinning at memories of Protheroe the ghost at parents evening.

Comedy gold.

Loved them to bits and the day they left R1 was the day the station effectively died.

Cant stand Moyles and Ferne (Awesome) Cotton.

I think I might get rid of the campervan and buy a soft-top Bedford Rascal

M+L were IMHO, the funniest thing ever on Radio 1. Ive got a few Fat Harry White clips on my compo, must have another listen cos they still crack me up. Some of the stuff they got away with was amazing.

Loved M+L on R1, I was often late to work when they were on on a morning. I'd get there on time, but would sit in the car in the carpark till they finished 😉

Liked R+M on an evening on R2 but rarely listen to them on 6m. I listen to 6m a lot, but I get no work done if they're on 🙂

I'm clearly more professional now than I was 12-15 years ago!

Binners I remember all of us being in the car once (probably on our way to glasto or something) and being really confused why my dad was literally crying with laughter about someones back passage.

I discovered them 2003 during summer holiday. 😆

Loved 'em but somehow (wonder if this is also reflected in the non-likers above*) our friends south of the Watford gap really did not connect with them at all?

* wholly appreciate that personal taste comes into it - for example, i could never, ever, tire of slapping Frankie Boyle, some folk here will, of course find him hilarious.... but i do recall, in our circle of friends, a distinct southern bias to those who did not gel with M+L...

For all the BBC's attempts to have funny acts on during the afternoon (Steve Wright...), M&L were the best. But what made them great is the Radcliffe is a superb DJ and Riley was a bassist in The Fall).

And, of course, they both remain inestimable on their separate shows on 6Music. Most evenings I cook dinner with Marc (with a C, one L) Riley.

I'm a dyed in the wool southerner, I get nose bleeds north of Tiverton, so your theory is bollocks.

When I lived in Soton, all my mates were locals from New Milton and Christchurch, they loved em too!

Liked them when they were on in the evening, but hated them when they moved to the morning slot.Even Radcliffe said their show didn't work in the morning, don't think it was helped by the fact he had to play sh1te mainstream music either.......

Last time this came up, someone posted a link to a website that had a ton of thier material on it, including many of the tunes from that Antique vinyl skit.

I agree, some of the stuff could get a bit old, but in general (I am Scot, and not all Scots liked them) I found them utterly fabulous. Brilliant.

When i went to that link last time me and the missus spent a good 30 minutes with tears pouring down our faces. Fabulous.

Never been able to bring myself to listen to the Presenters Graveyard that is Radio 2, but my God they were funny on Radio 1!

I vividly remember their last ever show, me and a couple of mates listening along as we drove down for a late afternoon/evening ride in the FOD. Letting the silence drag on long enough at the end of the show to cue Radio 1's auto play mechanism, which then ran 15 minutes into the next show, was brilliantly funny!

I had pretty moist eyes at the end of that last show, grew up with M&L and though it was pretty repetitive that's so much of what made them great.

Don't understand how the BBC could drop the radio equivalent of Morcambe & Wise while keeping the halfwit bully that is Moles and the vacant, squaking ,harpy Sara Cox.

Comedy gold indeed.

Blimey, North/South bias when it comes to DJ's. I'm from London, absolutely loved them and stopped listening to radio 1, the second their last show finished.

Even saw them on their Shire horses tour at the London Astoria. Though having Dick the buttock Scruttock on stage was off putting.

I loved their show, fat Harry puts in the odd appearance on the iPod shuffle. Comedy is always good when on shuffle. I've got a load of billy Connolly, genius when the track ends and the next one starts "the casual vomit...."

Oh God, I loved M&L, funniest thing on radio or tv. Slim and Shady used to make me cry with laughing, literally. Once out driving back from a client I had to find a pull-in 'cos I was laughing so much I couldn't see the road!
Stop!
Carry on...
I have 6 on at work, and I usually have Radcliffe and Maconie on, and they really crease me up as well.
That fat **** Moyles, on the other hand...
Anyone got a baseball bat or a crowbar?
