Had what felt like another coil pack go on the Audi last night - won't pull very well, misfiring, using lots of petrol.
Remembering BikeBouy's comment about having had his coil packs replaced FOC by Audi during a service, I called Colbornes in Basingstoke today to ask if there was anything I was doing or not doing to make the coil packs fail and they said 'Hang on a minute, there was a 'product enhancement' for those a while back'. They were apparently notoriously flaky in cold weather - and it was cold last night!
Having checked my VIN and found that mind hadn't been done, they sent a driver to Camberley to get some coil packs and then replaced all six for me free of charge while I drank their coffee and sat in their S4, RS4 and TT. Problem solved.
So thank you BikeBouy for saving me a couple of hundred quid to fix my car now and to Colbornes for great service (and also saving me several hundred quid in now and in the future).
If Colbornes were that good they would have told you there was a "product enhancement" (or recall as the non-marketeers call it) in the first place, no?

Tricky for them to do this as they barely knew that I existed before this. It wasn't a recall as it was not a safety issue - the replacements were done at services etc - and when this started I didn't own the car and I have never had it serviced there, so in this case your cynicism is misplaced! 😀
Besides which, it's impractical to recall every vehicle in one go, they'd spend their time doing nothing else (and probably end up with stock issues). It's non-critical, perfectly sensible to include it as part of a service or when they fail.
Nicely put Cougar, cheers.
I had really good service and wanted to praise good service instead of criticising bad for a change!
