You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
That's pretty cool SC. Another thing in the list to do when I have the time/money.
@StirlingCrispin that's superb. If I lived anywhere other than near(ish) the middle of London I'd love to do that. I suspect the area around here is pretty well-covered...
@Pierre - there are benefits to running your own tracker (geek kudos, ad-free map on ads-b exchange etc)
Coverage in London is good but there's room for more:

Oh to live in the middle of nowhere....
2 lots of red arrows tracking. I know they've had mechanical issues, hopefully all is okay and the second one is just testing before heading to join the others

Big day out for the BMBF Lancaster today:

Anyone have any ideas on the significance of the route? During the flight it was doing loops around:
-Brinklow
-Ilmington
-Broadway
-Wells
-Glastonbury
-Bovey Tracey
-Verwood
-Uffington White Horse
-Wallingford
-Hazlemere
-Bletchley

They aborted the display at the Rhyl Airshow yesterday, Red 6 hit a seagull and smashed the canopy. Broke formation and returned to the airfield with Red 7 as wingman. The remaining 5 just circled around for a bit to ensure the airfield was clear for the recovery, then they too headed back.
The BBMF display which opened the Sunday flying was very good, several low passes by the Lancaster which was nice to see.
News report of the birdstrike:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-62712450
I like the quote from the BBC report above
"Happy to report the jet landed safely and the pilot is unhurt."
Suspect the seagull was rather less so 🤔

Something a bit different just flew over- a Bücker Bü131
Edit: make that TWO Bücker Bü131

Seems the B52 was at Bournemouth today. Anyone know if it'll head that way tomorrow??
Just WTF is this over Edinburgh?!
Cant find the links for it right now but its a ground beacon of some sort used for tests.
Red Arrow?
It's a calibration transponder. A giveaway is the reported altitude, they're often silly high or in negative altitude so they don't get mistaken for anything.
If you look at the Squawk: 7777 = Non-discrete code used by fixed test transponders (RABMs) to check correctness of radar stations (BITE).
More codes here. You can see 7777 in the US means something else entirely.
I forgot to look as adsb earlier on, but apparently there were a couple of Typhoons circling north of London all day.
What I did see was one of the a320 tankers which was doing racetrack patterns just south of the wash for much of the pm.
Fighter jets busy the past couple of days. Always 3-5 on flightradar over the UK.
Even more on adsbexhange: This one is not on FlightRadar: https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=43c4ab
Have a Typhoon over the house a couple of times the last few days. They use MLAT - which require multiple receivers to pick up.
Flightradar won't take MLAT data - so that may be why they miss aircraft
A military Airbus A-400M is currently lapping Newcastle.
Before that it was lapping Edinburgh airport (3 approaches) having flown up from Brize Norton.
https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=43c5e3
In other news I treated myself to a new antenna and SDR-R receiver. Currently picking up aircraft over Sheffield!

Airbus A400m been doing some very strange things over the Isle of Wight for hours today.
Any clues as to why.
That's the same plane as was lapping Edinburgh / Newcastle last week.
No idea what it's doing - other than accumulating flying hours.
https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=43c5e3
Looks like it has got bored now.
It looks to belong to the test squadron (it was the one used for the first drop of paratroopers) so guess it was up to something more than just racking up hours.
Looks like a air refuelling pattern but pretty sure the RAF have decided against using the A400s in that mode.
C17 and a C130 due over London at 11am for the Lord Mayor's Show.
They're circling RAF Fairford at the moment
https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=43c6b8
Edit: just been joined by an A400 as well
Heard and sort of saw one (appearing in gap in the low cloud momentarily) of those, think the 130 over Waltham Cross. Was quite low.

You don't see many of those about these days
Usually see a HH flying out of Boscombe

The heli-lanes are a great trip out. That's a D model from 4AAC. Echo model isn't cleared for London yet.
B52s are back
I think they're based in Spain on this deployment and just passing over the UK on exercise. There's one currently at 28,000 feet over Wales heading North.
Ah cool. Theres another to the north east of Scotland but it's stopped tracking
They are both heading back across the UK
Four Belgian F-16s have just gone past twice at low altitude in the last hour or so. Very noisy 😎 !!
https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=44f1a6
I wonder what they're up to? It looks like they've done a sortie to get some Cartmel sticky toffee pudding
Two of those F-16s (I think) have just flown past here which was pretty cool!
I'm 2miles from Scammonden Reservoir / M62
I wonder what they’re up to? It looks like they’ve done a sortie to get some Cartmel sticky toffee pudding
Probably part of the big joint forces exercise going on out of RAF Waddington.
F16's are up again...
@thelawman - yep. they've just gone past! I'm sure they'll be back in 30 minutes after they've got the sticky toffee pudding
https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=44f166
Ah rubbish, I lived near Newark as a kid and grew up seeing Lightning's, Canberra's and wotnot flying over from Waddo, I now live in South Wales, the best I get now is an A400 or some transporter passing over from Bruxe Norten
I wonder what they’re up to? It looks like they’ve done a sortie to get some Cartmel sticky toffee pudding
Was up at otter tarn and they came round at a rate of knots, nearly missed a fish because of the buggers
Sonic boom being reported across the South/East Mids on Twitter
Apparently right over my head and nothing to report.
B-52's are back; heading over North Devon towards Cardiff:

AM400 been doing loops around Tyneside for the past two hours, now leaving.
Couple of miles south, police plane also been circling some small towns for two hours.
The Lancaster up and out over the Netherlands?
The Lancaster up and out over the Netherlands?
I would assume its to do with Operation Manna.
Food drop at the end of the war to the starving civilians.
Ooh that reminds me. We were riding around Derwent Reservoir yesterday. A transport and a Chinook flew over very low followed shortly afterwards by another transport. So far so normal. A little while later between laps of the upper reservoir we were sat on the huge bench below Derwent dam and heard another Chinook approaching. It skimmed over the top of the dam with what appeared to be a cigarette paper to spare.
A small thing really but great to witness.
4 helicopters just gone overhead. Looks like they're from Condor near Arbroath. Maybe something to do with the coronation

Coronation flypast starting to gather off Norfolk coast
Typhoons are leaving Coningsby, 8 so far
👍, looks good.
Yep looks like it’s getting busy on the east coast. 8 typhoons just took off from Coningsby. 3 Hercs, a globemaster and KC3 doing laps over the Norfolk coast.
And then the flypast itself was a right damp squib. 🙁

Thats putting it mildly it was pretty shit.
There are some shenanigans going on with aircraft trying to land at a very gusty Funchal airport in Madeira.
BA has two missed approaches so far and is weighing up its options

I know the pilots train for this stuff constantly, but the passengers must be having kittens!
Heart in the mouth stuff!
3 Chinooks just went overhead in West Yorkshire
All I can see on the web is this Dutch military flight.
https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=48044a
Reminder for tomorrow, Lancaster over Hendon and Lincolnshire as 80th memorial flight of Dambusters raid.
6 A10's just touched down at PIK, I missed them because I'm at home, boo!
It's a bit quieter at the minute now that the Dutch have gone home, a few videos of them on YouTube if you search Tac Blaze or Chinooks at Carlisle Airport. This is my favourite, those are public roads that I've ridden on in the bottom of the shot:
Does anyone know why a Chinook was hovering over West London (Heathrow/Northolt corridor) this afternoon? My daughter asked, as her neighbours came out to watch. It wasn’t showing on any of my apps.
There seem to be a bunch of Apache type helicopters and associate military vehicles temporarily based at Balado Airfield just outside Milnathort recently. Tonight there were a bunch of long-lens types pulled up along the A91 photographing them. Russians?
Lots of exercises at the moment. The B1s, B2s and I think U2s are back in the UK flying from Fairford.
Actually I've given misinformation, it's just B1s at the moment. Not the B2 or U2
The U2s are at Fairford also, fly out most weekdays all year round.
Great to hear the house rattle to the B1s going up at 9.30pm last night too! Love having them back at Fairford.
Is there any pattern to their flight times? Would love to see them take off/lane but presume it's just a waiting game?
If you are on Facebook, the Fairford Spotters Facebook page is great for timings. A lot of knowledgeable people on there.
Two B1s are currently out from last night on a 23 hour mission I believe. I think their activity should ramp up next week as there is a big NATO exercise.
The U2 usually goes up between 7-9am and returns 4-7pm each weekday. That's pretty ace to watch how quickly it climbs out of sight on take off.
On Wednesday 14th there's a 3-up Hercules flypast to mark the retirement of the aircraft at the end of the month (being replaced by the A400 Atlas).
Details and times here:

Oooof:

Never seen one of those. They never did the uk airshows when I was a 80s kid (too new??).
C130J Flypast today. 3 ship covering quite a few RAF bases in the UK
This Saturday is the King's Birthday Flypast which seems to be more or less what the Coronation Flypast should have been but for the bad weather.
https://www.military-airshows.co.uk/press23/kingsbirthdayflypast2023.htm
An Apache flow over our house yesterday and I tracked it, assuming it had taken off from Leuchars (several miles away) but it hadn't... it appeared to have taken off from Balado Park Airstrip - just over the M90 from Kinross. It did a few loops over Fife and then, sure enough, returned to land at the same airfield.
https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=43c93e
Didn't know that the Army Air Corps used civilian air fields, but makes sense for them to play at them!
Live mass take off of Typhoons at Coningsby

The main players there being an EC35, the Lancaster and a Spitfire from the BBMF (might have been a Hurricane in the mix too), the 3 Hercs, a C17 Globemaster, a Poseidon P8 and 5 Typhoons, all coming into London at around 1000ft altitude. Rather better than Charlie got for his coronation😄
Two BAC strike masters just flew over North Bristol. Are Ecuador 🇪🇨 invading?
