Just got my BBB email, obviously a lot of hard work gone into it already.

Looking forward to a great weekend again. 8)

Answered my questions too. We're in the lower campsite so a nice view of the lake jump!

The email was sent by the delightful Anne on her day off. she popped into AT to send that and do some bits on the way to the beach.

Proper organisation this year instead of my shambolic attempts.

Surely that will free you up for some extra beer quality control test work and water pistol duties?
How's the knee btw? I have a set of crutches at home if you want them. Could probably fashion a pint holder for them...

Is the camping flexible at all? As a group we have five families going and appear to have camping spread out all over the site.

Jason - I haven't been involved in allocating camping so have no idea. I will check when I go out there tonight. are you all arriving about the same time? Are you arriving on Friday or Saturday?

I think they put allocated camping afetr a few 'issues' last year where people we complaining about other people camping too close, blocking their view, blocking their car in. it is designed to make things better but clearly scattering a group isn't the desired effect so I will see what I can do.

WCA - can you check this - we also have 4 families going and the whole point is we can camp near each other, where possible. We have invited friends we have not seen for years. In the past we have pitched, within reason, wherever we want. I suspect quite a few other people will be in a similar situation.

Thanks WCA, we are all arriving seperately on the Friday but probably within a few hours of each other. The last couple of years we have all camped together so have been able to put the kids to bed and then sit up and have a few beers in the evening. Which has been great . If we are spread out we can't really leave the tent once the kids are in bed so changes the event a bit for us.

Worse case scenario why not set up a camp spot swap shop on here? Sure plenty of people won't be too fussed about where they are camping...

Same here.

I e-mailed AT and they have said camp where you want as long as within the allocated camp area for visitors (ie the whole northern area of site). 😀

Lake camp site here too. Just fitting electric hookup to the van this weekend, this'll be it's first try out.

If you see a chap holding an electric cable, surrounded by a shower of sparks and the beginnings of a van fire, that'll be me. Feel free to say hi! 🙂

As per Clinks email. The allocation is more to the main site or the lake side rather than specific pitches. Use common sense and discretion.

We're on 'Hookup Number 8', sounds like a dodgy version of blind date! We'll be the ones in the 80s trailer tent hoping we remembered to pack the mallet this time...

I quite liked the occasional chaos of previous events, hope it never gets over organised and looses its relaxed feel

Waves at the lake campers from up top in Avon Clump 😀

How do you put a fire out with an axe?

Feel free to pop next door and say hi. The beer fridge will be nicely stocked...

Thinking back to DezB saying that he had mentioned BBB to the people @ The Cycle Show on itv4 have any magazines or outside parties ever been to see what its about and done a write up ?

Its great that its a sell out but just wondered how have people heard about it, word of mouth, advertising etc? Its not like it ever gets mentioned on here for example. 😉

SOLD OUT means SOLD OUT

There are RULES singletrackmind!

Beer you say? I have your ticket waiting. 😉

On a serious note, the place has run out of camping space so we are not allowed to admit any more campers. There is camping about 3/4 mile up the road at Holmesly and there will be LIMITED day tickets on a first come first served basis.

Keep an eye on here and I will post as soon as the day tickets are about to run out. Remember though, no more room for tents, even sneaky little ones.

Today, 8 willing people started working on the 2 courses!

Oh, you guys are going to have fun!

Is the swamp section any deeper ? It came half way up my shin when I had a foot down moment last year 🙂

We have sold out of tickets, not our principles.

We will not bow down to corporate greed and grovel for publicity!*

*Actually, I don't know if we have contacted anyone. Too busy trialling the beer list. 😉

Anyone any clarification on camping issues?

Guy from AT said turn up from 3 on here, but AT e-mails say 5-8. Surely if all turn up then it will be chaos? Hoping to arrive lunchtime-ish.

I'm also still worried we won't be able to camp with friends due to allocated areas. I have had e-mail from AT that says 'As long as you keep in the site map areas marked for camping that'll be fine' but block mail from AT today again mentions allocated areas. The whole point of going with friends is that we can camp together. Friends booked on our recommendation (months ago) on presumption we would camp together; they are now allocated a different part of campsite; as with others on here we are restricted at night due to kids. How strict will this be?

Perhaps I'm being over-sensitive, but I know of 3 families who are unsure of what to expect. 😕 This info should have been available on booking.

Bring back BBB Years 1 and 2!!

please don't worry clink, we're the same lot who have been there from year 1 and nothing has really changed. The BBB isn't officially on until the saturday/sunday but we know people like to to turn up early. Because we have people camping there already and leaving Friday morning we need a bit of time to tidy up and get ready BBB stuff, so try and put new arrivals off getting on site till later in the afternoon. Usually 3pm is okay but our bookings staff are being cautious saying 5pm on because it is a bit manic at the moment. A few people have booked hook up sites (now full) but the rest of it is camp where you want in the designated areas, following the guidelines given out. Once the top of the site is full, we have an overflow down the bottom by the lake. I think inevitably if friends are arriving at different times they might find it tight to camp right next to each other, just have to play it by ear really. This has always been the case and most of the time people have been fine and worked things out. Please bear with us, we are trying - wouldn't want to lose the slightly chaotic friendly atmosphere - ask for louis, wca, anne or catherine there and we'll try and help or run off or something. See you tomorrow!

Anyone know how big the Electric Hook up pitches are ?

They are not really marked pitches from memory, just a space next to a hook-up.

cheers Clink. I'll be there with my T5 "bus" and a fairly large tent for the family and friend that are with us.
