Would like some blinds for my 3 bifold doors, but seems a bit of a minefield.

Local shop want around £1300, which feels a bit rich for me right now. They supply intu blinds, so a bit of googling suggests £250/window for the 'micro cellular' type - as the doors fold in on themselves, I think I need low profile ones.

I'm not a big fan of the blinds where there's a frame that attaches around the glass pane - the ones I saw in the shop today looked a bit cheap TBH. The intu ones seem to have the top bar, then a thin strip down the side of the window, and then a little clip at the bottom to keep the string taught.

Any tips/advice/options? seems a right nightmare, and all the online shops seem to have is computer generated pics of each of the many colours, but v little in the way of proper closer-up photos of blinds installed. Google image search just reveals the very same images.

I have perfect fits from 24/7 blinds in my tilt and turns and patio doors. 5blinds in total. About 45 quid each.

One broke recently -string parted - after 2 years.

Mfg replaced them no quibbles.

I make blinds for a living (Roman blinds from fabric, fully lined and on one or two or more tracks, depending on what the customer wants).

One always gets what they pay for.
I wish more people would pay just a little more for an independent retailer than on line, but hey ho.

We got some a few months ago, for the whole house, including the bi folds. We got a one and a two door roller blind which screwed into the reveal above the doors. So the doors are free to open with the blinds out of the way.

The price was a lot less than your quote from a local supplier. I suppose you can shop around. Well worth it should have got them sooner.

We opted for PerfectFit DuoShade from Blinds 2 Go for our conservatory. They fit ‘inside’ each pane, have a honeycomb design and can be opened in any position top to bottom. Look very modern.

Not cheap, but not too pricey as we got them on sale.

We’re so happy with them that last night I measured up for the MIL’s house and ordered her a few.

Not my experience with blinds, I gave a local independent my business for kids bedroom #1, expensive, didn't fit well and pattern match not perfect. Cord broke in Dec, independent not interested so fixed myself. Next sets ordered online, perfect, delivered in half the time and massively cheaper.

Are the PerfectFit blinds those which require a fixing pushed in between the glass and seal? Asked the window company installer about these when he was finishing a job, and he reckoned they'd invalidate the window warranty if anything happened (mentioned they've had a few instances where customers have had damage from them).

Imagine it's not a common occurrence but it has me rethinking what blinds to get.

Thanks all.
I'd love to shop local Bunnyhop, but there's a good 600 quid markup on the exact same product (Intu Micro Pleated) for a DIY fit product. Sadly I live on my own, and have a distinctly average salary, so I can't quite chuck 600 quid away like that.

I think the reason the ones I'm looking at are 'relatively' expensive is cos I need low profile ones as the doors fold in on themselves, and so thicker (or non-micro) ones will get squashed.
Shame as I feel the perfect fit ones are the most aesthetically pleasing

Jolsa, yeah the perfect fit ones attach as you describe. Perhaps I'll ask the window people first.

🙋‍♂️ That was back when I did charity work 🙂

All the years I fitted blinds INTU and P/Fit  did I ever did hear of an issue with blinds causing an issue. Some of the early INTU required drilling into frame that would certainly void any warranty.

When I was in local window/door company they had doors and conservatories clad in INTU and P/Fit blinds

Be aware the closed cell blinds can be bit of a fly graveyard at times

When we had new patio doors a couple of years ago the window people (small local and mainly reputable outfit) recommended perfect fit blinds if we needed them. We decided we didn't need them anyway once the doors were in.

not much help for you now, but in case anyone is considering bifolds, you can get the blinds built into the glass units. we decided it would work our easier that way, and probably not much difference in cost
