Isn't there something at Abbotsham which is a stones throw from Bideford? Not sure what its like. I remember seeing some lads on bikes when I was at the climbing centre across from The Big Sheep there a few years back. I know they do mtb events there every year.

There really isn't much. Abbottsham has a DH course with some woodwork if that's your thang, but I don't know if it's open for general use. You can ride along the Tarka Trail (converted disused railway) which is quite scenic but none too challenging. If you follow it to Braunton (about 16 miles I think) you can ride around the Burrows, along the back of Woolacombe beach (on a recently sanitised bridleway)and up some little lanes onto the hills with a good off-road drop down the Saunton Golf Club. Nothing very special. Best bet would be to drive up to Exmoor.
