Bought one a while back and enjoying it but wonder what size the cups are when the packaging says "makes 3 cups" when I struggle to half fill a mug?

I'm assuming it's the tiny espresso cups?

Thanks

the clue's in the 'Espresso' bit in the name, half a mug is not an espresso 😉

A 3 cup does about 150ml of coffee, so yes, the tiny espresso cups.

I use a 9 cup for a standard 400ml mug and a 12 cup for my pint mug.

you can have half a mug made from several cups of espresso

espressos doesn't need a apostrophe, it can even just be "espresso" (or "espressi" if you want to be a purist) 🙂

I have a 4 cup one that makes 3 big mugs of decent strength coffee or 4 slightly milder ones or 2 "I've not had enough sleep" mugs worth.

And sentences should start with a capital letter, if you're going down pedantry lane....

Plus, no-one in Italy asks for an espresso. Un caffe, per favore gets you what you need.

It produces lovely coffee but wouldn't say it produces espresso. If you look at the official Web site it's Moka Express, as in it produces coffee quick. Amazon and others tack on Espresso. Often the Express is confuse for Espresso.

That said it does a good impression. It doesn't have quite the right pressure, but you can do an espresso size drink. I find it's better making a larger one with water or milk though. And I use the full quantity from a 3 cup to make a single milk coffee (mostly coffee with some milk).

Yeah it doesn't do espresso, but people were talking about the amount a moka pot makes in quantities of espresso cups. Strength wise it's similar but you don't have the pressure put through the coffee that an espresso machine puts through. Couple of bar vs 12/15

Bialetti Brikka does a better approximation of espresso. You get crema at least. "2 cup" pot makes a nice "flat white" style coffee for one.

Only if the waiter is Spanish though. Grazie, perhaps?
