Has anyone any experience with Bestard boots? For hill walking and such. There would appear to be some bargain prices out there but also that they always seem to be on sale too.

I assumed it was one of Sport Pursuits own brands, hence always on 50% sale...

Oh, Bestard...
I'd echo above. Assumed they were an SP own brand as never seen them anywhere else.

I'd also thought this but I do seem to recall seeing them in a shop in Austria perhaps. But ye, they do appear to be on there all the time.

I have the Breithon one-piece boots and they seem better made than the Zamberlans I had before, I have a pair of their shoes that I pretty much live in. Brecon Beacons.

It was the Breithorns that I was mainly looking at. I've managed to find one blogspot review which was positive, written by a mountain biker too rather than a hill walker. Reading the blurb it looks like they may be okay to use with a C1 crampon. Any experience with crampons smiffy?

I took a punt on a pair of Breithorn Pro's 5 years ago for hillwalking in the Peak. Only tend to wear them in the winter months or in slop as prefer non-membrane approach shoe style when I can. Still holding up strong with no workmanship issues. I rate them. Very well made, on a par with my wife's Hanwag boots. Bestard aren't a SP own brand (family business in Mallorca) - they just don't seem to have much of a UK presence. They have their own website so you could check there on C1 crampon suitability or email them.

Any more wearers on Bestard boots?
I need new boots as does my youngest, so looking for a bargain that isn’t shit.
All other options welcome.
Snowdonia type walks although for him Kilimanjaro which I imagine will require something special.

They've been around as a brand for a long time though they're not common in the UK.

Definitely not SportPursuit own brand - they do warehouse/oulet sales of manufacturer's kit (mostly end of line) - the only own brand thing they do is t-shirts.

Bestard website says

"Calzados Bestard is a family business in the best sense of the word. From the small workshop that our grandfather founded in 1940, we have grown and evolved to be a well-established and recognized company, both in Spain and internationally. In our origins we started manufacturing custom-made men's footwear and in the early 70's we specialized in mountain footwear, currently selling in more than 30 countries around the world."

I think they also own (or at least, did) Vulpine.

They have multiple inhouse brands, IsoBaa, Fjern, Untrakt, a cycling brand I cant recall at the moment, Bolger to name a few.

I've tried their cycling brand, and it was very good quality for the money.

I got a pair of Breithorn after asking on here last year. Comfortable, fit well, waterproof… great, well apart from the vibram soles that are slippy af on (limestone) rocks.

Thanks Houns, I’ll have another look at them.

I ordered a pair from Sports Pursuit for my stupidly small feet (34 EU or size 2 UK). They turned up and went straight back, soft, thin sole and little in the way of ankle support. In fairness, most shoes that do fit me are designed for kids aged about 10 who weigh half my bodyweight so the soft sole and lack of support is not an isolated incident. I got a pair of AKU boots in the end

Long established brand in France but no idea whether they're still an independent or whether the name has been bought by someone else like Karrimor was.
