easy.
put whole egg in microwave.
set at max for 8 minutes.
walk away and do another job.
come back after 8 minutes.
Enjoy your delicious eggy treat.

No need to thank.

Whisk egg with a bit of milk, dip bread, microwave for something vaguely approximating eggy bread.

Scrambled egg is very rubbery when microwaved.

Smear a bowl with butter leave a knob behind.

Whisk an egg with some salt and pepper.

Slide resultant luxuriant buttery goodness 'twixt a sliced toasted bagel.

Dose up with condiment (English mustard, French (or French's) mustard, brown sauce etc BUT NEVER TOMMY K that's nasty)

Devour

Consider doing it all again.

A colleague of mine once got a hard-boiled egg from the canteen for her breakfast and brought it back to her desk to eat. She gave it a deft whack on the desk to break the shell, turns out it wasn't a hard-boiled egg, ho-ho.

Take a mug.
Put a dab of butter/marge in it.
Mee-cro Waah-vay it for ten seconds.
Swoosh the melted butter around the mug.
Add egg to cup.
Mee-cro waa-vay the egg for maybe a couple of minutes, stopping it and checking every now and then and running a knife around the edge of the egg to stop any sticking nonsense.

Boil water, pop in egg, in or out of shell, low setting for a couple of mins, put between bread or chop into noodles with mayo and a bit of spice.

Ping egg, the easy quick snack, it's just scrambled egg done in a mug inside the microwave. Definitely gets rubbery fast if over done but for the hungry and culinary restricted it's a worthwhile option.

Nope. It was, somewhat surprisingly, the eighth president of the United States, Martin van Buren.

I once literally blew the door off a microwave oven by attempting to "hard boil" about half a dozen eggs. I never did physics at school.

Surprising. Was expecting the 11th president, James K Yolk.

Boil water, pop in egg,

Boil kettle; open lid; swirl water inside kettle; crack egg into water; put kettle back on to boil, but don't let it - Obvs!

Pretend someone else did it when colleague needs to make cup of tea...

Whisk eggs, milk, salt, pepper, grated cheese. Popty ping on high, stirring every 30s until the right consistency is reached. Enjoy.

Scrambled egg is very rubbery when microwaved.

Try this (Similar to doomanic)
1 egg + table spoon of milk + twist of pepper, whisk with fork
Microwave 30s (900W) then give another quick whisk
Microwave another 30s and break up cooked egg with a clean fork
Serve and eat

2 eggs microwave 1m + 1m etc.

You may never get a pan out to scramble an egg again.

Only if you overdo it. Even Fooman's instructions are a bit risky. I wouldn't give a fixed time, you need to stop when they're done. So go 30s and whisk, then 15 and whisk, see how they look. Might take another 15, might only need 10 - and some people like their scrambled eggs runnier than others anyway. I use a 500ml Pyrex jug, and the major benefit is that it is soooo much easier to clean than a pan.

Unless I'm being an idiot, this seems to miss the process by which the egg actually gets cooked!

me and some mates cooked herta frankfertas in the college student union kettle in a similar way...just held the button down to roll the boil for 5 minutes or so.
Tea never tasted the same after that, TBH

mug of water just off the boil, just enough to cover an egg.

Crack egg into mug and prick yolk, if you're careful it won't leak

Microwave for about 40s, depends on egg and power of microwave. Then top up with further bursts as needed.

You can get a surprisingly good poached egg from this.

Drunk one night in student halls, I found a load of slightly old, wrinkly mushrooms* in the fridge and thought it would be really funny to hide them in the kettle. Unfortunately, I wasn't present for the ensuing hilarity because I lived about a mile away. I still wonder how long it took the occupants to work out why their tea tasted 'earthy'. I also still wonder why I thought it would be a good idea, other than 'drunk'...

*field mushrooms, nothing dodgy.

An egg cooked in the Microwave with margarine?!

Why on earth do you hate yourself that much?

Someone I worked with once tried to cook an egg (at work) by placing it in a bowl of water (no more than half submerged) and then microwaving it on full power. The explosion was very loud and blew the front of the microwave off and sent it flying across the kitchen, egg went everywhere.

There seemed to be genuine concern by some members of staff, whereas I thought it was one of the funniest things I'd ever seen and had to hide behind my nearby computer, crying with laughter. Still makes me laugh to this day.

Yeah that's what happened to me only it wasn't one egg it was about half a dozen.

You would think that unpricked "skin" of the yoke would rapture before the pressure inside the microwave oven builds up to the point where it blows the bloody door off, to paraphrase Michael Caine.

For anyone in a shared office this is the best possible outcome from this scenario.

Remember you can normally reduce the power on microwave so it'll good for 5 second then rest for 10 then another 5 etc. No point zapping it with 900watts unless you want blue scrambled egg 🙂
