Morning all
My partner is Greek and makes a lot of calls home on her mobile which works out to be quite expensive.
We have a Virgin package which comes with a land-line and for £2/month you can add international calls for 10p/minute.
Before we sign up is there a better way of doing this, maybe using one of the phone cards that are available or is there a vendor that offers a package for a set amount each month?
Over to you give mind 😉
Skype - use her mobile data/wifi and buy £10 of calling credit and call Greek landlines voice only. 2.3p per min
Back when I was making a lot of transatlantic calls, I signed up with a company called Swiftcall. You key in an access code and then dial, and it uses their systems for routing and billing. I think it came out at like 4p/min when BT were charging something insane like £1/min.
This was back in the late 90s and I don't know if Swiftcall are still in business even, but I'd guess there are companies still offering similar services; that's where I'd be looking. A quick Google suggests http://www.18185.co.uk/rates.php - 2.5p/min to Greece (10p to Greek mobiles).
Cool. I'm a bit of a ludite with thus sort of thing so thanks for that guys 🙂
@stayhigh I set my parents up so they can call relatives in Canada. I setup the Skype in auto-recharge with their credit card but it takes an age to spend the £10 Your partner can save her regular numbers in contacts. To download the app and get setup should be easy and you can access the account on mobile phone/ipad/computer etc - if you need any help just re-post or email
