Just had my monthly bill for my New York Times subscription at £2!

Quite incredible VFM!

Can anyone beat that?

I signed up to the Athletic (part of NY times organisation I think?) for 99p a month for 6 months. They seemed to forget it was time limited so I got another 6 months at the same price. Recently had an email confirming it would go up to 7.99 a month - I cancelled my sub and they immediately emailed to offer me it for £9.99 for the entire year, so less than a quid a month. I accepted 😎

I think that's how I ended up at £2 a month, was £8 or something like that and I cancelled.

I was hoping GCN+ would do something similar so I could watch CX over the winter after cancelling my sub 20 minutes after Jackson Goldstone crossed the line at Mont-Sainte-Anne. No joy so far.

Look out for Eurosport offers on Black Friday.

Private Eye is £30-something for the year, a real bargain IMO.

Does the TV licence fee count? No other media organisation does as much as the Beeb for that kind of money.

Singletrack. £25 / year.

Comes will loads of free server errors too. Far better than the overly short socks that came on the cover of MBUK.

A free month's sub to Zwift after taking a short break late summer... Check your recent emails from Zwift if you've done similar. 😉

Wired is $5 a year for the US edition, £19 a year for UK digital and print, and £24 a year digital only. Go figure.

Washington Post, I'm paying £20 for a year, Torygraph is currently 3 months for a pound.

Everything's fine with these discounted offers until you forget to cancel and find you've renewed at some punitive rate, canceling out all the savings you've ever made.

Free year of Zwift !!

As a Wahoo/SystmX subscriber was given it because of some US litigation between the pair .... I think.

Still getting into it, watching the back side of a little graphic man is not really doing much for me.... Should I be trying a race? How do I do that??

I think that's the same as the NYT, their target market is domestic and any overseas readers are a bonus, so they're happy to offer it for peanuts.

@Ro5ey If you haven't already in Zwift, you need to do a realistic all-out effort for at least 5-12mins in any game mode, so ZwiftHQ can assign you to a provisional Category Enforcement pen for racing in most races these days. Logging in at https://www.zwift.com/ will show you more detail about the power profile ZwiftHQ have for you, under "my feed."

You can simply sign up to a race in-game, there's only a few events like WTRL races on Tuesdays where you have to register for a series. Similarly on the Zwift Companion app.

Registering at https://zwiftpower.com/ will give you ranking points for your race positions in the "official results" and also shows you the events shedule for up to 7 days ahead, where you can also sign up to events.

https://www.zwiftracing.app/ is an alternative ranking system, which I think needs registering on zwiftpower to work.

ZwiftHQ monthly series races such as https://zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=3843905 at 1610 BST attract relatively big and strong fields, especially on Mondays 1710 BST, when new week's circuit used for first time. Zwift Insider Tiny Races on Saturdays 1000/1600/2200 BST attract big/strong fields too, for four sub 15min races back-to-back.

It was on offer last month.

Cynically I suspect it's to force it to expire just before Christmas, because who's going to cancel the kids Disney channel at Christmas? That or to avoid a January slump in revenue.

Fine for me, I tend to just watch a couple of series and then happy to let it lapse.

Lifetime family National Trust Family membership. I think that annual family membership is good value at about £150 a year, but lifetime is even better value if you get in early.

Was about £2,000 5 years ago. We are still in in our 30s, with young children and get a lot of use out if it. This is valid for our lifetime, our children up to 18, and in the future,  any grandchildren under 18.

bbc license fee. Great content for not much cash

I have lifetime family membership too, but I don't think a 1-time cost really counts as a subscription

if you travel a lot as a family the amex platinum card can be surprisingly good value, lounges, worldwide car hire and travel insurance, a bunch of other benefits. not cheap though

Very fair point. My twisted logic was that if we get 40 years use out of it, it works out at £50 a year for us, £25 each a year, £2 a month. But you are correct.

Wine Society was a one-off £25 fee for lifetime membership and has a long list of very good wines and reasonable prices.  The fact they made a mistake with the very first order and sent a replacement case free of charge which turned up at about the same time as the original misplaced order and they told us that keeping it was less hassle than handling the return has also enhanced my view of it.

I saved more than that this morning on the stw->exposure discount

And will be saving more than that again on discounting an upcoming garmin purchase

£0 for Strava premium after signing up for a black friday yearly subscription offer in 2020 via a redemption code that has never expired. Every day it says it'll expire but just renews again at £0. Singletrack is pretty good value at £39 a year too.

£30 for a year's Mubi. Obviously only if foreign and niche-ish cinema floats your boat but I think it's a bargain.

Hey nObOdy

Thanks for your efforts, I couldn't find my power profile but entered into a C cat last night.

Pretty sure a came in way back but still had fun racing the people around me in the last kms.

I have now found out I'm a D, so will give it another go tonight.

Good fun

(I'll look into main Zwift thread now, ta)

Switched to Lloyds Bank last year , they gave us £175 and 6 free Cinema tickets which we didn't use 🙄 so this time we had a years subscription to Disney Plus instead .

Sky Cinema subscription, we get two tickets for the Vue cinema every month. This makes it cost neutral to us as we used to go the cinema monthly anyway.
