We're looking for a tablet to replace an ancient iPad mini. I'm tight so won't pay £400 for the mini v4.

Any recommendations for a tablet under £200?

I don't own either but the Lenovo Tab P10 & Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 get good reviews in Which and are both £199. Other than that probably a second hand iPad Air

put android apps on it.

Google are really stopping tablets, and moving everything to chromeos

Lenovo Yoga. Excellent battery life, useful in built stand and the speakers are great for the size.

Get a refurbished iPad from Argos, for example:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Apple-iPad-5-9-7-Inch-32GB-WiFi-Tablet-Gold-/352374315868

No doubt also available in other colours, but that's the first I saw. Or stretch to £230 and you can get full size iPad:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Apple-iPad-2018-6th-Gen-9-7-Inch-WiFi-32GB-Space-Grey-/352380783654

We've two of the refurb Minis, you wouldn't know they're not brand new.

Thanks

Does anyone know anything about the soon to be released iPadOS?

I have reservations about Android updates as it's a lottery who gets what and for how long

Android updates

But that's why you move to ChromeOS. I get updates most weeks on Chrome. And it'll be updated for at least 5 years https://www.computerworld.com/article/2897690/chrome-os-upgrades.html

Also, what will be the impact of the Trump Huawei spat on phones and tablets?

I guess it's a bad time to buy a Huawei.

The short answer is "none" at this point in time, from a consumer point of view at least (it'll surely harm sales though). We discussed this at length a few weeks back.

I've just ordered a pair of refurbed galaxy tab a 10.1 from eBay for under a ton each. Arriving tomorrow so no experience of how good they are but reviews are all good.
