Birthday coming up, fancy a coffee machine. Bean-to-cup no more than £400....
Needs to do espresso, cappuccino etc. Ideally want an all-in-one, not separate grinder etc.
What have you got or what would you get?
Ta
I see what you mean, I am sure there was a more recent thread, but this is only last year:
Here
The grinder and infuser in the cheapest DeLonghi machines appear* to be the same as in the expensive models, you're just paying for more automation and shinier plastic. They make a decent cup of coffee, but do you have to clean them out from time to time (on top of emptying the coffee poos it leaves in its little bin).
I had a DeLongi Magnifica S. It made decent coffee but occasionally threw a tantrum if the bean grind wasn't quite right, and I was never enamoured with the milk.
Can't really talk, though, as I now have a Nespresso Creatista machine which does consistent, if average, coffee but truly excellent microfoam.
* Based on having a poke inside the various models on display at John Lewis
I've had a number of different ones but the Magnifica does it for us, just choose your price point in the range. As per tradition, I always like to name-drop a great supplier of beans:

Is the De'Longhi eBay store worth a punt?
I have a Delongi Magnifica - one of the cheaper models. It makes very good coffee if you spend a little time adjusting the grind. You are basically trying for the finest grind the pump can force the water through.
When I change beans I often have to readjust the grind because if you are grinding too finely it will fail and assume you are out of water. I tend to make a short double shot coffee and top up with water from kettle. The steam rod makes passable foamed milk but as I only use a little and don't tend to drink flat whites it's fine.
You have to read manual though, lots of lights and settings. Love mine and if it died tomorrow I would buy another in a heartbeat,
apparently, mate had one from there & used it for years before it died. There has been a slew of vouchers recently that work on it though so might be worth signing up to an alert on HUKD & waiting if you're not desperate! Is the De’Longhi eBay store worth a punt?
We got this Delonghi a couple of months ago. Way nicer coffee than Nespresso (which I thought was OK at the time) , lots of adjustability. If you mainly have milk-based coffee drinks the LatteCrema system saves a bit of hassle.
No need to look any further than this
DELONGHI ECAM23.420 Bean to Cup Coffee Machine
£599 down to £340 although I doubt it is ever for sale for the higher price. Pretty sure I got Quidco cashback as well.
I got one in May and it has been flawless (just looked at stats, 398 coffees so far). It just works and works well. Not too bulky, no surplus functions and works quickly
Right, gone with one of these from the eBay store for £240:

That looks like a bargain price, is it a refurb?
Next thread needs to be Best Coffee Suppliers. I am currently using Common Coffee in Fife. Good value, no nonsense coffee. Highly recommended
is it a refurb?
They all say refurb but 12 month guarantee and free returns if no good.
Thought it made more sense to spend a bit less just in case coffee making isn't for me 😉

Probably 🤣
Lidl has some good deals on the big bags of beans at the moment
I like to try different coffees but it's hard to see past lavazza rosso at £10-12 for a KG!
