I know whatever I buy won't be big enough, but the rear yard is only a certain size and it's better than the 6x4 bike store we currently have...

All likely 14x8 and double doors.

I can go garage layout with end doors and centre ridge.
null
Reverse ridge with centre door.
null
Pent with centre door.
null

I'm erring towards the reverse apex - bikes stored left and right hanging up with storage and workbench on back wall. Should give full standing height in the work bench area...?

What have you got...

How about donut shaped then when they crack fusion reactors you can retro fit it and hey presto! Everyone on the street will be lining up to get cheap leccy from you

Others suggestions also available.

I've got one like the top shed and find it more that suitable. Mine is a couple of feet longer though, and has 2 windows on the side you can't see in your picture so I've put the workbench under them and got the bikes hanging on the end wall.

The other long wall is mostly filled with shelving and hooks for coats, Camelbaks, tyres, etc.

Needs a mezzanine artisanal coffee emporium and a think space

I'd go reverse apex, think doors in the middle is best use of space. The pent looks good but less headroom and also might not be enough height to hang bikes under the eaves.

Limited room? Make it a 2 storey shed. Upstairs for storage, down for workspace and the bike(s)

I've got room for a mezzanine on my shed, and I'm seriously considering this (I'll have to raise the walls about 2' to make it useful.)

Sensible answer.

Middle one for me aesthetically. Custom build workbench under one window for natural light.

Align the end of the bench with the door frame and add a vice that allows you to use it for longer timbers etc by poking one end out of the shed door. I would offset the double door a bit to one side if possible too.

Top one would work, but would benefit from side window(s) for natural light for workbench on one side, bikes the other.

We keep our bikes a mixture of on the floor with a beasty shelf over the rear wheels for camping and other gear and on wall bracket things that you can get from decathlon / Halfords. We've got a bit more area to play with.

Struggle to post pics on here but if you want a couple for ideas then PM me an email and I'll try and send a couple after Xmas.

Slight hijack, but while on the subject of sheds, where should I get a decent value for money shed from?

Here’s my thoughts, put the door where it best suits you, ie nearer to paths entrances etc (if security allows) that way bikes can be wheeled in/out easily.i found it best to have the door in the middle of the end wall, my shed is approx 11’ x7’,I have a 600mm worktop running up one side, that allows space on the opposite side for two bikes and shelves above, in fairness this was my second shed in the same space, I knew what worked for me the first time round, so it was designed around that.i have 200mm wide shelves above my bikes, and they hold paint, bike spares etc.
I don’t have masses of room to work on y bikes, but it’s sufficient, it all depends on how much your going to store and it’s size, and if you intend tinkering in it

Put a decent porch on it. The second proper shed (the current one) has a centre line apex, same as your first image. We extended the roof another 8’, two corner posts and decking under the roof extension. More bike work done here, all year round, than anywhere else.

My plan is to add shelving, support and bike storage as needed.

I like the idea of work bench near for for light and ability to put long items out the door.
