Seen Oldboy, very sick, not enough to make it a great film.

Mine is still the best 😛

You're wrong, Al. It's not sick, it's violent...there is a difference, and it's a great film. 😛

I will maintain no-one does revenge like the South Koreans.

....Dead Man's Shoes is fantastic, though.

Point Blank is also very good.

Lee Marvin...woof!

Not the best, but I always enjoy Payback.

Oldboy is great, very apprehensive about the US remake.

Dead Man's Shoes and Oldboy are both great movies, but Oldboy would be by vote of the two.

Few other contenders that spring to mind are

Gladiator
Unforgiven
Leon

But Jamie, he gets deaded in the end (Get Carter). You might as well have said "Easy Rider", which is revenge for being a rebel.

Confessions. Absolutely incredible film and the ending is giving me goosebumps just thinking about it. Probably the best film I watched last year. Great soundtrack, great acting and a really dark feeling throughout the whole film.

I love revenge films and man on fire is my choice. Like ^ said, the build up and release of controlled rage is pitched perfectly.

Unforgiven +1. A magnificently bleak piece of cinema.

On the Tarantino tip, Inglorious Basterds is probably a better revenge story than Django.

And in spite of its faults compared to the book, V For Vendetta is a nice play on the revenge theme.

Well I watched Confession, it was ok, I'm usually ok with subtitles but given the whole story was told with them it was hard work.

This Korean one is a bit cheesy in places and story line a bit iffy but the fight scenes are really good.

Any ghost story.

In fact, Ghost Story is a pretty good take on the theme. The Fog, in either incarnation, is another good example.

Although not a revenge movie as such, Once Upon a Time in the West - Frank (Henry Fonda) finally recognising Harmonica (Charles Bronson) is one of the most fugging epic moments in cinema.

I thought of Payback straight away...best Gibson film ever ans I need to see it again.
But mention of the Crow above reminded me of how fab this film is and its a classic revenge story.
Robocop has large elements of revenge, but its mainly about good v evil and thats a different story type.
In a proper revenge story you dont care if the person who is on the offensive is good or evil, just that they are vindicated in seeking revenge.
Surely there must be something involving Liam Neeson?
