Off the top of my head: Dead Man's Shoes.
Yours?
Off the top of my head cos it's the most recent one I've seen, Taken is pretty good.
Last house on the left
Kill Bill 1&2
Revenge?
Get yerself to South Korea, Al.
The Vegeance Trilogy. Which includes:
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
Oldboy
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance
...the boxset even comes with a hammer 😀
Wrath of Kahn!
Seen Oldboy, very sick, not enough to make it a great film.
Mine is still the best 😛
Dead Man's Shoes +1
Seen Oldboy, very sick, not enough to make it a great film.
You're wrong, Al. It's not sick, it's violent...there is a difference, and it's a great film. 😛
I will maintain no-one does revenge like the South Koreans.
....Dead Man's Shoes is fantastic, though.
Point Blank is also very good.
Lee Marvin...woof!
That Clint Eastwood film from a couple or three years back... Hmmm... And Arry Brown I liked.
edit: Gran Torino
Not the best, but I always enjoy Payback.
Oldboy is great, very apprehensive about the US remake.
Empire strikes back 🙂
Dead Man's Shoes and Oldboy are both great movies, but Oldboy would be by vote of the two.
Few other contenders that spring to mind are
Gladiator
Unforgiven
Leon
Some crackers already mentioned especially Leon & Kill Bill
I'll add one seriously pissed off Denzil in Man on Fire

harry brown and payback
But Jamie, he gets deaded in the end (Get Carter). You might as well have said "Easy Rider", which is revenge for being a rebel.
Gangs of New York.
Many of the above
+ for 'lightness' "luck number Sleven"
The outlaw Josey Wales, High Plains Drifter, The Unforgiven, True Grit?
Most westerns probably.
Law Abiding Citizen - revenge against individuals and "the system". Great film.
Jamie - Member
Seen Oldboy, very sick, not enough to make it a great film.
You're wrong, Al. It's not sick,
Incest isn't sick?
Hoped Carter and Point Blank would turn up.
Payback
Kick Ass
Django Unhchained
Commando
I woke up a bit bleary eyed and as I read through this I thought why has Micheal Cain got a pair of nail scisors in his breast pocket?
The Limey is very good
Taxi Driver is essentially a revenge film
Unforgiven is my favourite
Trading places 🙂
Once upon a time in the west.
no-one mentioned 'i spit on your grave' yet? 😀
Rolling Thunder
I was just about Sadex, very enjoyable 🙂
Confessions. Absolutely incredible film and the ending is giving me goosebumps just thinking about it. Probably the best film I watched last year. Great soundtrack, great acting and a really dark feeling throughout the whole film.
Man in fire, I like the fact the 1st half builds it up perfectly and the 2nd he is just bad ass
I love revenge films and man on fire is my choice. Like ^ said, the build up and release of controlled rage is pitched perfectly.
jaws!
Incest isn't sick?
Not if you don't make eye contact....hang on. Am I thinking about something else?
I saw the Devil and Commando.
Harry Brown & Get Carter
The dog certainly got his own back.
Carrie
The Crow
Number one has to be Man On Fire for the reasons stated earlier.
I Saw The Devil is also very, very good.
But Jamie, he gets deaded in the end (Get Carter). You might as well have said "Easy Rider", which is revenge for being a rebel.
Look. You're a big man, but you're in bad shape. With me it's a full time job. Now behave yourself.
8)
The Italian Job
2003.
igmc
I thought oldboy was alright but seriously you lot should check out Confessions. Even better imo, the build up to the ending is brilliant.
Law Abiding Citizen
Mad Max.
For A Few Dollars More.
Kind Hearts & Coronets.
Payback and I don't even like Mel Gibson.
Most of the Eastwood westerns, Leon, and The Crow.
Oh yes, The Crow! On of my faves and the best soundtrack ever!
Got to be Old Boy for the plot twists!
Another vote for Dead Man's Shoes.
Can I count Aliens for Ripley's fight with the queen?
And Double Jeopardy.
Unforgiven +1. A magnificently bleak piece of cinema.
On the Tarantino tip, Inglorious Basterds is probably a better revenge story than Django.
And in spite of its faults compared to the book, V For Vendetta is a nice play on the revenge theme.
Godfather and the wizard of oz..dam bad witch had it coming.
22 bullets
Well I watched Confession, it was ok, I'm usually ok with subtitles but given the whole story was told with them it was hard work.
the girl with the dragon tattoo where she gets her revenge on the man who raped her.
Man on fire is great.
And Death Sentence (Kevin Bacon)
Fight Club.
Enter the Dragon - I win.
Boards dow hit back!
I watched Drive Angry the other day, bad enough to be funny
Tremors
The Horseman
This ones Australian, and an excellent revenge flick.
The Man from Nowhere
This Korean one is a bit cheesy in places and story line a bit iffy but the fight scenes are really good.
Predator 2
Trading Places
Another vote for Law Abiding Citizen.
Man On Fire. Creasy is about to paint his masterpiece.
Any ghost story.
In fact, Ghost Story is a pretty good take on the theme. The Fog, in either incarnation, is another good example.
+1 for the OP, but Hard Candy needs to be in there as a contender.
Anyone mentioned First Blood?
The Long Good Friday .
Legally Blond
Yeah, I'll see myself out, cheers.
Lucky Number Slevin is good.
No teeth - That film is in my top ten of all time great films. And yeah it is a revenge film, Bronson's brother was killed by Frank. As you say, fuggggingggggg amazing. Ah, fugg it, I'm gonna watch it!
Robocop.
I thought of Payback straight away...best Gibson film ever ans I need to see it again.
But mention of the Crow above reminded me of how fab this film is and its a classic revenge story.
Robocop has large elements of revenge, but its mainly about good v evil and thats a different story type.
In a proper revenge story you dont care if the person who is on the offensive is good or evil, just that they are vindicated in seeking revenge.
Surely there must be something involving Liam Neeson?
