Stayed there a couple of weeks ago, excellent food and drink.
Didn't visit any other places so can't comment but as and when I go back to Rhayader I'll go back.
May not technically be a pub, but on a Thursday night it was busy, good atmosphere, staff were excellent.

The Crown inn or the one over the road are usual favourites, I've not eaten in either though. I wasn't aware of the Castle, I'll have a look at Ty Morgans to.
