Hi, I'm looking for somewhere to stay September 24-30 - ideally to do a couple of days' mountain biking, a couple of days' high walking and maybe one PD 4000m which I'll hire a guide for or make a friend.

Can anyone recommend anywhere - my impressions:

- Chamonix - nice and bustling at the time, no good PD climbs really
- Pralognan - great walking, no mountain biking or mountaineering really, town could be a bit dead, difficult to find a guide, will likely be a monastic experience
- Arolla - great walking and climbing, but quiet and will be costly to find a guide
- Zermatt - could be good but big bucks
- Grindelwald - as for Zermatt

Which of these would you go for as a base?
