Fed up of mine rusting and seizing up. What are the toughest, most secure padlocks for general home use?

Alloy are pretty rust resistant and secure.  Like most padlocks they can be cropped with a pair of Records but Network Rail use them as a standard lock over most of the SE (you get the odd sticky one to open but on the whole the hundreds I use a year a pretty good).

I normally use a place called simplypacklocks and get outdoor rated ones. I still use a bit of Green Oil "slip" in all my locks though to stop them seizing (it's a bio based oil so doesnt matter if you get it on your hands for the first few times using the lock).

Abus laminated

Abus that keeps my shed locked has been rust free and easy to open for about three years now.

One of these  http://abuspadlocksonline.co.uk/abus-padlocks-by-material/abus-laminated-padlocks/abus-41-30-laminated-padlock-keyed-alike.html

its not actually that big...

Same with everything. You get what you pay for. Abloy expensive but good.

Ive got a masterlock padlock as one of 3 on my shed. Doesn’t ever seize up whereas the other two do.

The cheap ones on our garden sheds / ladders etc must be getting on for 20 years old now. Still work fine.

on youtube theres a guy picking a selection of diskus type locks. He gets into masterlocks in no time, Abus ones get harder to pick depending on price
Theyre harder to cut due to the shape

drip a small amount of chain lube into the key slot, and into the openings where the hasp goes into the body.
operate the lock a few times to move the lubricant around.
Repeat before each winter.

Squire Stronghold:
Choose Closed Shackle if you can.

Toolstation is very cheap compared to some of the security specialists.

Abus diskus (hardened steel version), requires two cuts with bolt croppers which makes it harder, especially if you have a good hasp which makes it more difficult.
