I have some photos of my newborn daughter that I would like to get printed and sent to relatives. However, some are non-standard crops. All of the online photo printers that do 6x4, etc. printing seem to take issue with them.

Are there any printers who will let you leave white space on the print to get the crop you want rather than filling the frame along the short axis and cropping the long axis?

Cheers,

S

You could try DS colour labs. TBH most will expect you to size and crop accordingly. You could add white space to the images to make them the correct format, but that's probably a pain unless you could batch action it in Photoshop.

Good plan, thanks, I'll give that a go unless there are any other odeas?

[s]Not the answer you're after but my new HP Envy Photo 7134 prints photos as good as a lab, if you print your own you can crop them how you like.[/s]

Christmas is coming, and Black Friday deals are on, do them a calendar on Photobox or one of the other similar services.

Hey Piers,

I've just sent you an email to your profile email address, with a recommendation. I've got an out of office reply, so let me know if I can send it over to different address!

A friend of mine does hand-made canvases if that's any use to you?

I have had really good quality and service from snapfish. But if Cougar has a friend doing hand-made stuff, it's probably better to support a real person's business.

It's not even really a business yet as such, he's trying to get it off the ground whilst doing a day job. But he's -very- good. Dirt cheap relatively too. Sells his own photography (mostly landscapes) and his missus' artwork too, they've had stuff in galleries. I have no doubts that he'd do something for you for little money if you wanted, he's done similar for others.

Cougar, this could interest me. Does he do larger volume (meaning, say, 20) at a time? And what are his size limits? If this is a conversation better carried out by email, you can use the one in my profile, or, seeing as you're a mod and can therefore see my more personal address, you can use that one.

I don't think I can see anything beyond your public details. But I've asked the question.
