TV: I'm going to say 'Bodyguard'. 'Killing Eve' and 'The Deuce' getting honourable mentions.

Film: A Quiet Place. honourable mentions for Bladerunner 2049 and It, I know they were probably 2017 films, but I don't get the chance to go to the cinema so didn't see them till this year.

Bike Purchase: Nukeproof Neutron wheelset. I needed some cheap wheels in a hurry when my old ones died, but they jump from 23mm to (near) 30mm rims was a bit of a revelation, the fact that every tangible feature of them is acceptable to great for £200 makes them pretty special in my book. Honourable mention for Shimano GR7 shoes - they're 95% as good as FiveTens at what they do well (grip) and many times better at what FiveTens do poorly (eveything else). I've used them 2 or sometimes 3 times a week since June in all weathers than they still look and work like new.

FILM: Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse

Only saw it yesterday so it's still very real but it was amazing. Visually stunning. I wanted to go straight back in and watch it again. Coming at a time where super-hero movies are played-out, banal, predictable, superficial money-making machines, it is truly a breath of fresh air. My 6-yr old loved it and I loved it - for the same and different reasons.

Film - Best : Dispicable Me 3. That was a whole load of fun and a great extension of characters. Worst : Isle of Dogs, sorry Wes but even though you are my movie making hero IoD was shite.

Music - Yeah, nahhh. I’m struggling to think of any new artists that I thought good enough. So, no-one. (Some of DezB’s jingly jangly I have enjoyed, but don’t tell him that) But I’m very much into remixes of Dance tunes these days, Joey Negro from Glitterbox and the Duo who do the Get Twisted Radio show, Sam Devine of Defected Records.. these guys I’ve been very impressed and I’m very happy to hear new Dance tunes still being released. Some Neo-Soul stuff I’ve enjoyed, Angie Stone, Solange, Ledisi and pretty much anything I can play my guitar too.

Bikes - erm.. bikes ? Nah, given up.

Trail Running - Yeah, Awesome. I’ve really enjoyed QECP and flogging myself silly chasing MTB’ers around the Blue and Red, I’ve found some great loops out Kingly Vale way and ran Lewis to Eastbourne SDW the other week. Done some loooong Yorkshire Moors loops over Grimwith and Simons Seat, has some great experiences.

Surfing - has some great early Spring sessions down Saunton and St Ives and some over Hayling, the North East Coast was good too... then came the hottest and flattest sea states for Yonks 😳

Houses - Well, the Harrogate build went on and on and on and is still going on and on and on and frankly becoming a finance bucket and I’ve had enough and thinking of selling it.

TV - Loved Killing Eve and really into the Last Kingdom as i'm a sucker for a historical drama and Vikings

Film - I've very few films that actually came out in 2018 i must admit, but enjoyed Solo and Blade Runner 2049.

Music - That Idles album is brilliant, at 43 it takes me back to the first band i loved, Rage Against the Machine, a hard edge with a political message and these days i find it unusual to love a whole album, not just a few tracks, but i am loving an Aussie band called The Chats too especially "Smoko"

Bike parts - a tale of two frames for me, first ever brand new expensive frame, a Reilly Gradient is beautiful to look at and was brilliant on Torino-Nice, but i also bought a 10 year old Singular Peregrine frame, and set up SS it has been the bike i rode 80% of the time as it so comfy and easy to clock miles on, when a steel frame is just right.
