The Joseph and Joseph ones we have just don't keep them warm.
So, what doesn't leak, fits in a car cup holder, around 500 ml and actually keeps stuff warm?

Contigo on offer from Tesco.  Might not be niche enough for this forum. You might need to check your cup holder though as it doesn't fit all cars.

Contigo ones are great.
I've got one which is about 10 years old and still works fine. It's almost too efficient and sometimes I have to just take the lid off to speed up the drink cooling down.

I've got one of these

My Wife has one of these

https://www.mycontigo.com/products/thermal-mugs/byron-2.0-snapseal-travel-mug-590-ml/SAP_2155589.html

which probably goes easier in a cup-holder & has a simpler lid mechanism.

I got one of those ninja thermostore mugs. It doesn't leak as long as you dont push the button and it absorbs excess heat from coffee meaning it isnt too hot to drink, then uses the stored heat to keep it there for hours. So i can drink my coffee on the drive to work, or through the early morning.
It is heavy when empty and doesn't fit the standard cup holders in my car tho

Get the thermos one, with the rotary click lid.

I've had this one for about 7 or 8 years.

Hasn't leaked except when I've left it open!

Will keep a cup of tea hot for 4 or 5 hours and still pleasantly warm for 8 or 10. I've just finished mine off that I made at 6:00 this morning.

I have an unhealthy addiction to Yeti stuff at the moment.
Seems to work very well but isn't cheap.
it's lovely stuff.

I do also have a thermos one that's doesn't look at nice but works equally well.

We have Lifeventure ones. Work well keeping drinks hot. The sipping lid is a bit pointless IMO but some make like it. Relatively well priced and spare lids are available if like some in our house you are inclined to lose them.

MY kleen kanteen from the STW shop is top notch and easy to keep the lid clean - a bug bare of mine with many cups.

If you're happy to keep it upright like in a cupholder then a Yeti Rambler Travel Mug.

If you want to be able to chuck it in a bag whilst full then a Yeti Rambler Travel Bottle with Commuter Cup is better.

Camelbak Forge is what I use and it does exactly what you say you want. The Contigo one I have from work is also really good.

I agree with merit the Thermos ones are great but a bit bulky. I have a small Yeti cup with a push on lid with the magnetic slider, it’s okay for an hour or so. My original silver Nespresso travel mug puts the Yeti one to shame with its screw on lid and firm clip closure on the drink hole.

Definitely one of these from Yeti. I’ve used it on my daily commute via train to Leeds from Sheffield every day for a year and it’s still as good as the day I got it. Tea is made at about 6.30am and still piping hot at 9.30am when I’m well in to my working day.

I got one of those for Christmas and it's been a game changer, if anything it keeps my tea too hot for long drives!

9.30am.thTs amateur numbers. The kleen. Kanteens still hot even sat in a sub zero car all day  at 4pm when I go to drive home. - I'm sure the yeti would be too to be fair. Most coffees just don't last that long

rCup.

May not be the best at maintaining a piping hot coffee for hours on end, but very good at spillage prevention, fits a regular cup holder and nice to drink from, not like sipping on a Tommy Tippee cup.

Yeti rambler with the commuter cap here. Well aware it’s frankly offensively expensive and the fact yeti stuff seems to be stocked in the shops I buy offensively expensive jeans and t-shirts from confirms I’m almost certainly being ripped off big time, but as travel mugs go, it holds a days worth of tea, will stay hot practically indefinitely and is somewhat comfortable to drink out of without the “is this going to be stone cold or burn my face off” roulette some insulated mugs come with (the bit you drink from is an inch deep so it’s sort of like drinking from a normal mug that has a reservoir under it)

did I mention they’re disgustingly expensive? Worth it tho.

This one

thermos king mug

I have two of my own, so they can be left to soak on occasion.

Also find them quite reasonable to buy as gifts... I have a handful of coffee or tea addicted friends with one. They all use them pretty much daily.

Takes about 30 seconds to strip down the lid, the silicon spring/seal in the middle needs popping out with a spoon or something.

Yes, anything decent that you leave the lid closed all day will stay much warmer. Still get a puff of steam off mine if i leave it closed for the day.

Camelbak Forge. Mine is used daily for work and has been battered around in a bag, on site, back of my Landrover etc for 3 years now and it’s still absolutely fine. Fits in cup holders, has a moulded in look that I use to hang it off my harness, wouldn’t be without it. I actually have a spare one in a cupboard just in case I lose or break my current one.

I got a Camelbak Forge Flow from GoOutdoors - not sure if it’s the one you’re referring to. Anyway, I’m not a fan. The cap and drinking mechanism leaks heat, and if you’re not careful it leaks coffee. I also have one of the plain vanilla LifeVenture ones and it works well enough but it’s not convenient to drink from in a car.

Yeti here, for the car the day(s) I’m traveling to the office or a customer, I use the yeti traveler bottle (it’s a cup but with screw lid) for during the day at my desk I use a massive yeti Rambler mug.
Both keeps things hot but the ‘bottle’ doubley so with the screw lid.
expensive but I suspect they last forever.

I have been using this everyday for years, fits the cupholder in my van. Also doesn't leak when carried in a backpack. Only problem is it does keep things too hot so you have to let your coffee cool before putting the lid on.

The Bodum mugs with screw lids are excellent - you can literally put them in your bag upside down with no fear of leaks or the lid accidentally coming loose.

They are twin walled so keep drinks hot & metal so can take a beating.

I’ve tried a few different insulated mugs over the years, but the best things I’ve found, by far, are the steel screw-top ‘bottles’ that you can pick up in all sorts of places, in lots of different colours, often for about a fiver. I’ve got two I bought a few years ago from Wilco’s for a fiver each, and subsequently aquired several more from the last place I worked, because during the summer it got very hot, and they dished those bottles out to all the staff so they could keep hydrated.
I used to make up a jug of green tea and put in one of mine during the winter as well. They fit into the drinks holder in cars, and they’re exactly half a litre capacity.

word of warning with the bodum.

while the simple flip top mug is good upside down .... rather obviously when you think about it the cafetiere version that looks the same is not ......

Can't believe no one has mentioned Zojirushi yet?

https://www.zojirushi.com/app/product/smws

I've had one of these for about 15 years.  Still keeps stuff nice and hot and I've never had a leak ever.  There's various sizes on the website.  Not cheap but worth it.

The Joseph and Joseph ones we have just don't keep them warm.

Are they plastic or metal? We have both and the plastic ones aren't thermal, but the metal ones are, and they keep drinks warm for quite a while.
